9/11 widow dies in NY plane crash

A widow of the 9/11 terror attacks was among those killed in the New York state plane crash, relatives have said.

Beverly Eckert was flying to Buffalo to celebrate what would have been her husband Sean Rooney's 58th birthday when Continental flight 3407 came down.

really sad and tragic. I'm wondering why the plane came down so suddenly and with no distress calls whatsoever.

I didn't know about it until the afternoon, happened too early in the morning so it wasnt in the papers. As sad as it is, luckily it didn't kill more people than it potentially could have.

I've heard a story that some planes lading to Buffalo said that icing was a problem during landing. Now I know how much trobule did SAS have with this type (Dash 8 Q400). It makes me wonder is there a lot of design faults in the aircraft. I remember the ATR crash in the 90's and it was because lack of anti-ice systems on the leading edge of the wing.

Considering that interesting facts of this huge farce surrounding this event.....

1: The plane was on auto pilot
2: FBI swarmed the scene and refused to acknowledge "black box" was found, confirmed found later, however no one is allowed near it (this raises questions considerably)
3: There is no evidence of ice building up or any reason for the crash as of yet.

1. According to NTSB they should have been on manual because the conditions of the area. Main reason is that the pilots would "feel" the plane better. But some reason they weren't. Is that carrier based procedure I don't know for sure.

2. Well if there were corpses all around the crash site I would imagine that the FBI wants to remove them before removing any piece of the plane. The boxes are designed to cope in the environment.

3. There has been warnings about icing in the area and some planes had reported icing on the wings.

Judas are you aviation expert?! Because your questions sounds a lot like what I would expect from one that believes in conspiracy theories...

i'll listen to conspiracy theories because in the past.. they have quite frequently been right provided and backed up with enough documented evidence...

btw why were the fbi out there in the first place.. they had no place being there...

Because there is always the IF that it was act of terror. Now it's proved that it wasn't now the investigation is done by NTSB.

I've a VERY good friend that has flown nearly every conceiveable civilian, commercial and military airplane

I doubt that... there are just too many planes on the market that getting the certifications to 90% of them would take a lot of time... same goes for the military planes...

ATM he's been flying the Hercules plane for a few years... he's getting close to retirement but hasn't done so due to enjoying it...
