Re: Man detained at St Louis Airport for having Cash in his carry on!
and yet people continue to tolerate it simply because it wasn't them.
just like the poor women that had breast milk just like countless other people that have had completely absurd things that in no way could be used as a weapon. Frankly the system is fear mongering people into submission

Re: Man detained at St Louis Airport for having Cash in his carry on!
What on Earth did they think he was going to do with the money? It's not like money would be of any use to a suicide bomber and it wasn't an outrageous sum either.
EDIT: Although, come to think of it, the way things are today, that amount could have been the loot from a bank robbery.

Re: Man detained at St Louis Airport for having Cash in his carry on!
if the money was packaged correctly, they (the security), could have thought that the money was really a type of explosive similar to what banks use if there is a robbery in progress and the theif(ves) grabs that particular wad of cash.
my mom has worked for banks for several years and a couple of her banks have been robbed before. the last occurrance, she gave the robber an explosive "fake" money bag. |

Re: Man detained at St Louis Airport for having Cash in his carry on!
that's the most insane idea i've heard in a long time. What benifit would giving a robber explosive money be? Instead of harmless cash, he runs away with essentially a weapon, although initially unknown to them. Why wouldn't they just have a tracker bag... with gps beacon built into the money.

I can't look at youtube at work. How much money did the guy have on him? You do know if you have $10,000 you must declare it before you fly. (For international flights anyway)

On the recording he said "around $4,700.00" Not really all that much. Some people take a lot more than that on vacations.

A lot of robbers have been caught "red" handed this way. GPS would work until they ditch the bag or see a gps device stuck to a bank note

The guy that took that video is an idiot. He was delibertly provoking them, and trying his best to have them 'detain' him. If I would have been "Agent Soto(?)" I would have hauled his ass out behind that building and done a full body cavity search on his ass.

He could have just said "yes I am a US citizen" and end this, but I can see his point. Of course if he was illegaly there, he could just say Yes I am a US citizen, and leave? I doubt it, cause that would make the whole checkpoint meaningless. In many other countries if he acted like this he would be beaten up etc. But of course things like that are not supposed to happen in the USA. If the man had the law on his side then good for him. Still, I am not 100% on his side, the agents there were searching for illegal immigrants (I guess). I still don't know why they were stopping every single car there. I can understand it if there was a special reason, but you can't just stop every single car on the road for no specific reason.

Re: Man detained at St Louis Airport for having Cash in his carry on!
while i have definte issues with soem of the new laws, that guy was an ass. the guy obviously set out to be detained. i wouldnt doubt that there is more info(as we only heard a segment) that probably casts this guy in an even more unfavorable light as he obviously chose the best part to serve his purposes. and he still sounded like a buffoon.
whatever u feel about various laws, being a smartass to the people who enforce them, not the ones making them, is stupid, & causing them to waste time that could be used to deal with real criminals. personally i think he deserved a beat down.

Re: Man detained at St Louis Airport for having Cash in his carry on!
the guy in 'obedience training' is an idiot to. he starts out saying he knows its there & his intent is obvious out the gate. he quotes law from the 70's wich has obviously been superseded by all the home land security stuff(i dont agree with a lot of their powers & implementation bty). he should get himself informed before running his mouth. tehn pulls up a starts snapping pics & continues snapping pics while the guy is talking to him & keeps responding with 'am i free to go..'. i would have yanked him out the just for sheer rudeness. and the poor peeps stuck behind him..
i understand the point he thinks he was trying to make but his implemetation was silly. & given the extreme problems that they are having in all the border states with violence, drugs & arms smuggling, that agovernor actually asked the feds to send in the national guard he better get used to more checkpoints. & get updated on laws. christ it would have takem him 2 secs if he just would have answered the friggin question.

Re: Man detained at St Louis Airport for having Cash in his carry on!
?? judas the constitution is constantly being changed/revised. 1/2 the things that peeps think are their 'constituinal rights' arent.
i will guarentee u that if the yreally wanted t otake him in & hold him for a while thye could have. with no recourse on his part. things are bad down along the border & getting worse. until they get a grip on the guns & $$ being smuggled into mexico & the drugs & illegals being smuggled from mexico, along with all the crime associated with this and the major turfwars people down there are going to have to make choices on what they live with. personally, while it would irriyaye me, a 5 sec check point is a non issue. while i am fully cognizant of the erosion of our perceived freedoms & this is a major issue that needs to be monitored closely, the reality of living in a world of cowardly terroists & major criminals organisations that have no respect for anything & can/do buy of politicians & law enforcement puts us in a postion of making hard choices on what we are prepared to give up to take some of the fear out of our lives & give law enforcement the ability to deal with these pos.

Yeah, they are called "amendments" ...... the Constitution has been amended to death.

Re: Man detained at St Louis Airport for having Cash in his carry on!
admendments that have destroyed the very being of the constitution.
at what point does "Give me Liberty or give me death" have no value? death by terrorists (most of which are all false flag) or other such means has the lowest death toll of all things, yet it's top priority, and things are being changed in a negative manner for all the wrong reasons. It's fear mongering, and like most people, initially are brained washed into thinking that losing their liberties for security is a good trade, in which case, at what point do you no longer have your liberty and the security is so overwhelming that it is your locked up life your living. This is counter productive to say the least, they can admenned the constitution all they like, but the ones that actually take rights away ... and they are doing this more frequently then ever, are not valid, reguardless of how many political representitives vote on it. In the last few years alone, and 2 occasions of which have happened under Obama's administration completely against his word.... they continue to do this. The representives that were elected are no longer able to do their job, they havent a clue what they are voting on most of the time now.

Re: Man detained at St Louis Airport for having Cash in his carry on!
to tell the truth i firmly believe this country needs some form of revolution to get it out of the hole it is in & to keep it from going deeper.
wished i knew not just what all the answers are, but more importantly how to enable them.

Re: Man detained at St Louis Airport for having Cash in his carry on!
If i recall from what i read of the constitution itself. That in the advent of all friendly matters to restore itself, that (specially for the US) the right to bare arms should be put into practice and have it restored by force.
This isn't all that much different then what we orginal seen by hilters own schemes, it's just a drawn out method that's slower and harder to recognize. Or It's not much different then the peasents that revolted against royalty, forcing the signing of rights and privilages at which point the royalty were then executed due to their unlawful power they had inforced. "Let them have cake"
