![]() only the virtual drive will be created in the primary memory (the RAM)... the image file will be placed on HDD... ![]() you know, know that i think about it, it's kinda the same thing i mentioned earlier with the bootable HDD... oh... nevermind... ![]()

Re: Dads old Dell
Okay..... got far enough in Win7 install to find out this great new OS can't deal with SCSI ...............
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I don't believe they dumped scsi. Vista drivers won't work either. There's a bunch of flap going on at Microsoft's forums, but no answersSo, I'm not putting 7 on here........

Re: Dads old Dell
There's IDE on the board, but my drive is scsi. And no I'm not hooking up an IDE drive just to see if I can run Win7 on this....... not worth my time and frankly I'm out of drives.

Re: Dads old Dell
Yep...... or both. I'll probably dualboot those two.
Here's the "finished" build. Adding the side fan brought down system temps about 3 degrees..... nice! 37c on a 33% overclock is not bad..... Almost all the fans are running a full 12volt so quietness is not this computer's forte. She be Loud 'n Stuff. Seeing as this isn't for recording anymore, noise isn't a factor. The video is a GeForce 3 with an oversized fan on some weird cooler... it works! For now it's 256mb or 384mb ram, because that is all the PC133 ram I have. I'll use the one 256 stick when doing further overclocking, until I get some matching 256mb sticks. Dual PIII 850mhz running at 1.13Ghz (133 fsb) Seagate SCSI drive, adaptec 7899 mobo controller. Some old Sound Blaster card, works but nothing for recording......... All in all it's quite "snappy feeling" just running a few simple things in windows 2000 or XP........ I wouldn't expect a PIII under the hood anyways. ![]() The box kinda reminds me of a '67 Dodge Dart.............. with a 426 Hemi in it!

Re: Dads old Dell
na not really... i just have had to work with about 5 of those cases before i think they are gaud awful cases for both air circulation and ventilation, as well as being highly restrictive..
course your is far fancier with a front fan...

Re: Dads old Dell
I added that front fan first when I started modding this case...... works really well at cooling that scsi drive. The knob next to it is a speed control I gutted from dead PSU.......... nothing is safe around here.

Re: Dads old Dell
did some great modifications on that case Ty...
![]() since i know you know how to assemble and disassemble stuff, solder, etc. here is a little schematic of a fan control circuit... ![]() ![]() the LM317 IC can be changed with any kind of a 78XX voltage stabilizer (example, 7805 - +5V stabilizer, 7812 - +12V stabilizer) and you can change the thermistor with a pot of some vale between 20KOhm and 50KOhm, solder it like rheostat (see pic below) and you're done... ![]()
