Re: Terminator: Salvation *possible spoilers*
As a Terminator movie it was a terrible letdown but as an action film it was pretty good. There's nonstop action and more explosions than a Michael Bay film but there's little to no humor or any of the writing quality of the first two films.
I had a Terminator marathon after seeing Salvation which concluded with a fan edit of T3 called "The Coming Storm; it edited out all the tongue in cheek and stupid parts to make a surprisingly decent film. I think once Salvation hits DVD and an edit is made of it then it will also be a great film (there's just a few horrible scenes in T4 but if they were removed it wouldn't affect the plot and would make the experience so much better). Arnold's cameo in T4 was nice and was about the only time I smiled but it also shat on T3 which Arnold said he assassinated John Connor in the future because Skynet choose his model to take advantage of Connor's childhood attachment to the Arnie terminator...that's not gonna happen if Arnie tries to kill him in T4! McG obviously needed an excuse to put Arnold in the movie and didn't think how it would screw up the story.

Re: Terminator: Salvation *possible spoilers*
Yeah a few friends have told me as a film its great, but its not a wonderful "terminator" film. Will catch it at some point.
I hope to god Bale is better in this role because he was bloody awful as batman. |

Re: Terminator: Salvation *possible spoilers*
Sadly, he is far worse in Terminator. He's screaming in his Batman voice in nearly every scene and always serious (not at all like his younger self) and Sam Worthington steals every scene from him. I sure as hell would like to know what scene Bale got upset over in that infamous recording because there is no scene in this film which will make you care what happens to anyone.

IMO, i think it's been left open enough for them to make another movie about John Connor sending the kid back in time and to father John Connor. Then skynet will send a T-800 to follow back in time attempt to kill Sarah Connor and starting the loop all over again. and while the future continues, later on, a T-800 will kill John Connor. |

Re: Terminator: Salvation *possible spoilers*
I thought Terminator Salvation was terrible. Absolutely one of the worst movies I've ever seen. As to why I need to reveal spoilers, so be warned...
*** SPOILERS BELOW *** The opening sequence was pointless. We really didn't need a three minute setup for Marcus donating his body after his execution. The entire ruse Skynet sets up to capture Connor is pointless. They have Reese who is Connor's father. Instead of killing him while they have the chance (thereby preventing Connor's birth) they put him in a cell to provoke Connor to come to Skynet. Huh??? Then there is the idiotic heart transplant at the end. I just can't buy a heart transplant in the middle of a windy desert. Sorry, but this was just lame. The two hour movie was an hour and 50 min. action sequence. This does not make for a good film. Not only is it disrespectful to the previous films, it was boring. Everyone involved in greenlighting Terminator Salvation should all burn in hell.

I was like wtf...why are they doing a transplant on their savior in the desert; it was so stupid. Skynet was reduced to a joke in this movie...they could have killed Connor but didn't AND they had no way of possibly knowing that Reese was Connor's father but some hack writer figured no one would notice. ![]() If Helena Bonham Carter's scenes are deleted from the movie it would actually be a lot better. She's a great actress but her role(s) in this movie are cringe worthy and don't add anything to the plot that we don't already know. Without her in this movie, you're looking at 2 more stars out of 10 for sure. The fan edit of T4 is gonna be pretty good I'd wait for it if you decided to skip on the theatrical version (though I doubt you did if you're reading this thread).

Re: Terminator: Salvation *possible spoilers*
I thought it was an ok movie, I've never gone into a movie expecting great things as you're usually always let down and I dont class myself as a movie buff or critic to begfin with anyway.
Arnie wasnt actualy in the movie, it was a CGI'd version of him

Re: Terminator: Salvation *possible spoilers*
Went to see this tonight with not many high hopes as I had basically heard the storyline already on a few sites I visit.
It was exactly as I expected and I left feeling utterly underawed by the whole experience. I appreciate Christian Bale is a fine method actor and I thought he delivered a fine performance in The Machinist a few years ago. That said, I wish he would avoid these kind of action movies as he seems to think that continuously shouting and making semi guttural phrases is appealing (much like he did in Batman). As for the rest of the film, just as expected - a mind numbing barrage of special effects, a plethora of explosions and much running about like semi retarded idiots while the script sagged behind the action like the limp bastard child of the director. McG should perhaps return to pop videos. Sure, Terminator Salvation is mindless fun, but its predominately also shit. |

Re: Terminator: Salvation *possible spoilers*
Did you happen to notice the excessive fire belching? Nearly every scene features fire bursting out of something. It was the tackiest thing in the movie for me and reminded me of some 80's sci-fi or a KISS concert.

Re: Terminator: Salvation *possible spoilers*
Didn't McG challenge Michael Bay to a contest of who had the bigger balls when it came to their movies? I never thought I'd say this, but at least Bay's movies are at least amusing to watch.

Re: Terminator: Salvation *possible spoilers*
Agree with all the above. Enjoyable mind (d)numbing action flick. Shyte compared to T1 & 2.
They assault one of the MAIN skynet manufacturing plants. We SEE the assembly line for the T units, so we know hat they are making. They only have one or three units that can be routed to dispose of JC? WTF? And it happens to be the one wrapped in Arni flesh. Whatever. My 15 month old son could probably have done better... Yeah and we won't even get into the heart transplant... Wait for the DVD folks. It's a let down if you are a fan of the first two movies.
