I'm curious to know which application you guys will turn to as your preferred music player
Today i checked out hardWIRED and a friend of mine was writing a review of SongBird 1.2 BETA and it looked good so i thought i'd check it out. I liked it so much it's replaced Media Monkey which i swore by ![]() So tell me, which is your favourite and why? |

I use Winamp specifically for music only...
Windows Media Player 12 for Ripping music and watching videos.... even for quicktime videos or realplayer videos.....

Re: Your Preferred Music Player?
WMP................... it works and it's there so no hassle. This is for playback of pre-recorded music.....
When I'm working on my own music I use my DAW, reaper, and if I need to burn CDs of my stuff an old version of Audio Studio. But this isn't what the poll is about.

Re: Your Preferred Music Player?
the core media player.
I like the way it handles video's. No hassle with getting subtitles in.. just name it the same as the movie and keep it in the same folder, it will automatically add it. It's very good with audio as well..

Re: Your Preferred Music Player?
foobar2000, small but powerful. I switched from Winamp quite some time ago mainly because of the complete replay gain support.

Re: Your Preferred Music Player?
Used to be WMP, but since i've gone ot the dark (light?) side of the Macintosh, I've been using iTunes for music, just 'cause it's there, and Quicktime/VLC for videos, or FrontRow when my MBA is hooked up to my home theatre

Re: Your Preferred Music Player?
I like winamp but as I have an iPod, iTunes makes everything so much simpler when it comes to sorting my music, so iTunes gets my vote.

Re: Your Preferred Music Player?
foobar2000. It plays everything (although you need a plugin for APE and ALAC), very simple player interface (although customizable), fast, crap load of some very useful plugins, but for me the highlight is that it's got Kernel Streaming support for bit-exact playback.

Re: Your Preferred Music Player?
I used to use Winamp but now due to a combination of owning a few ipods, simplify media and generally liking the sound of the player and growing used to it, iTunes. Plus with my current rig cpu cycles are not a problem.
At work iTunes and VLC. I use Rythmbox on my linux machines.

Re: Your Preferred Music Player?
Winamp, because it's simple and it gets the work done.
And for occasional listening to Internet radio stations, Screamer.

I used to like it way back in the day when it was just a simple player, but year after year, version after version, WinAMP has gone down the toilet. As soon as I found foobar2000... punt! Out WinAmp went. MediaMonkey would be my second choice. Infact, I install it on all the machines I sell. |

Re: Your Preferred Music Player?
I used to use Winamp V2 for ages, when V3 came out i tried it, didn't like it, went back to V2, then as my music collection grew I ended up using WMP (starting at v7 I believe, on WinME) to organise my library
