Sky Crawlers
I waited till the DVD became available, purchased the Sky Crawlers anticipating another anime movie brilliantly executed by Mamoru Oshii and in that respect I wasn’t disappointed. However the adaptation of the original novel is delivered as a visual experience although engaging and exciting at times, still attempting some sort of philosophical punch that would make more than it really is. However visually it is very pleasing to me and the matte and digital aspects of the production are much like the Ghost in Shell series, stunning.
The movie did not resonate much more than it did when I first watched it, and perhaps much less than after I watched it several times. It did not grow on me like the Ghost in the Shell series and albiet a technical masterpiece, it will become a Sunday afternoon movie I will leave on when I am working in Photoshop. But it is a must have for animephiles and enthusiasts, I just wish I had some of the pre-production stills and sketches to add some more dimension to my experience, that even after watching it all week, was what I expected I suppose. Worth a look, if you appreciate good anime. http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/ency...me.php?id=8269 http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/video/2366/#play-1
