I've been toying with the idea of ordering a ticket for Chickenfoot as well. There are a boatload of concerts around here this summer, already have my ticket for virgin festival, skipping out on Kiss from lack of good opening bands.

I caught Journey and Dream Theater both were great. On Chickenfoot would be cool to see although I am hoping to see another concert before August in NS

dream theater were awesome. I thought Journey were great but I miss Steve Perry on vocals. The fact they hired a Journey tribute band singer to replace him annoyed me as I think its just a series of personality issues between Perry and Schon rather than Perry losing his vocal range.

One thing I noticed and im not sure if anyone else did, was when Neal Schon went to take a solo the ass fell out of the sound even though keyboard player Jonathan Cain stepped in at times to supply some rhythm guitar. Not sure if it was the download stream or Cains amplification but I think they could do with another guitar player if they tour to add a bit of meat to the overall sound.

On another note, Petrucci is just incredible, guy has such an advanced technique and can mix up the arpeggio's with some soulful playing when needed. He gets a bit of a bum deal as just a "Technical player" because he really is capable of improvising around some nice chord structures. Has to be one of the finest guitar players in the industry and I admire DT for not selling out and jumping on the mainstream wagon when their hearts clearly lie in Progressive Rock.

I miss Steve Perry as well but egos are egos please don't forget Don Henley and the Eagles

Petrucci is awesome and so is the bassist I have been following him since I first heard "Pull Me Under" on the radio the first time. Another player that gets razzed as a lead "showboy" is Vai. Listen to his rhythm playing for example Tobacco Road with Roth.
