I Guess I'm Gettin Good With DVDs
A friend sent me a package of DVDs, some he said were from japan, specifically, the Lain Perfect Collection. He sent them all in sleves so there were no boxes.
I was able to distinguish in 5 minutes that the Lain set was a bootleg. And here's why. #1. No Pioneer Logo Anywhere. Companies like to put there logo or emblem anywhere they can for a movie. Like when you put in a warner brothers movie it has the logo come up before the movie starts. Also companies like to put their emblems on their discs. #2. It is region free, not region 2. Companies are usually strict about regions, stupid movie industry. #3. The menu's are the same as the US version even down to the chapter selection, you can only select 4 episodes per disc like the US version. What's weird about that is that there is 7 episodes on each disc. #4. Found the same product on ebay. Where the item says Condition, it says "Factory sealed from Singapore" bootlegging capital of the world! So it was the US release dvds compressed poorly into a 2 DVD set. I guess this means I'm really getting good. Ah and there was one more thing, the print quality on the discs was a bit blurry.
