Jim Morrison died this day in 1971
BBC ON THIS DAY | 3 | 1971: Doors' singer Jim Morrison found dead
I dont know about any of you folks born after 1971, but I can remember my cousins telling me about Jim Morrison, his music, which the played often, and his life before his death this day in 1971. Years after I still recall his music with the Doors and I still have fascination with his writing and his work. Love him or hate his music with the Doors, he remains an icon. Val Kilmer barely touched the real Lizard Kings persona, and perhaps thats fine. I hope some of you take the oppurtunity to listen to his work with the Doors.

A day doesn't go by without my remembering Jim...... The genius and the tortured soul.

its a womb thing hobo...LOL
Jim's music is used in many movies, recall Apocalypse Now's ending? absolutely chilling.. I remember when my Dad was in Vietnam and my mother was in hospital, my cousins dropped acid for almost two weeks straight during summer and my brother and I were trapped in my aunts house with stoners and hippies coming and going, having sex, drinking and fighting and playing music. I recall the Doors, Alice Cooper, Led Zeppelin, Cream and Blue Cheer playing endlessly during the day and Hendrix at night till my mother rescued us. It was frightful. but the music was awesome. and I remember people lying in a trance like state on the floor of the basement while a candle lit lamp with a rotating shade projected images on the ceiling and the Doors playing on and on... You have never heard Riders on the Storm sung acapela by wasted teenagers before, I dont recommend it. but it was macabre in its own way.

Re: Jim Morrison died this day in 1971
Back in the day, when a Doors song came on the radio, nobody was allowed to speak.... it was an unwritten law.
@Fallstaff............ I've been in similar basement scenarios, but not as a child.
