Re: Are you an american? have you travelled outside the USA?
I've been all over the US including Hawaii growing up and I can't imagine there being any one country in the entire world with the diversity of cultures and land that the people of America have.
I'd rather not surmise and assume though - as I know living in and visiting many different places has done much to give me a more accurate perspective of nearly everything - my own self included. My desires would be to visit the Neatherlands, France and Greece, and the Isles of Britain, Australia, Indonesia, Japan, and China. Edit: I'd actually like to visit Saskatoon too, I hear there's a cool computer shop in the area... I might learn something of the Chi of computer case assembly as well.

Re: Are you an american? have you travelled outside the USA?
Most people I know, self included, want to travel abroad but it seems to be a lower priority than other forms of entertainment, etc, and therefore less likely to be done.

Re: Are you an american? have you travelled outside the USA?
most poeple I know travel, have been travelling since childhood and now work for companies that ask them to travel. I cant imagine living in one place more than a few years without travelling somewhere. I have travelled all my life and look forward to continuing that lifestyle till the wheels fall off my roller skates.

Re: Are you an american? have you travelled outside the USA?
I'm American. I grew up as an "Army Brat", as my Dad was in the US Army.
From ages 3-15 or so, I moved about every 2.5 years. I lived in: Maine Indiana Maine again Germany Germany again Maine again Connecticut Massachusetts I lived in Germany for just over five years. While there, I was able to visit many countries in Europe. Most weekends we were on trips to France, Switzerland, Austria, England, etc etc. I won't go into specifics, but seeing and learning these different cultures as a child was an amazing experience. What people in America do not see is the OLD culture. In Europe and other parts of the world, there are buildings, monuments, castles, etc that have been around for hundreds or thousands of years. In America...the oldest or most popular landmarks are maybe a couple hundred years old...tops. Unless you live life with blinders on, why wouldn't you want to explore and visit other countries? It doesn't matter where you're from. Get out there and experience life. |

I am not American, but I'd like to add to this thread as well. I live in Holland, but have got family in Switzerland, so I go there alot too.. And I notice people always say americans are narrow-minded in respect to foreign country travel.. but Dutch people are too. If I tell someone I want to live in New Zealand and I am going to study there they look at me with big eyes and ask me; but you can do that here too? Why travel half across the globe to study?! But I think it's a great experience, especially if I want to live there for the rest of my life..

Re: Are you an american? have you travelled outside the USA?
haha, I see.. It was more of a joke then a real question Z. :P
I would love to visit as many different countries as possible. especially those with real wild nature.. that's literally non-existent in my country.. Not a place where you can go without the sound of civilization (car's mostly).

Re: Are you an american? have you travelled outside the USA?
I am an American. I live in Kentucky. I don't travel too much. Within the US I have been to my neighboring states Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Tennesse, West Virginia, Mississippi, and Florida. The only place i have been outside US is when I went to Niagra Falls. We took the tour and marveled at the falls for several hours. The after that we were like....."Now what?". We were so bored. But one thing about Canada I can say without a doubt...it is THE CLEANEST PLACE I'VE EVER BEEN TO! Nary an iota of litter. The streets were impecable and everyone was friendly.

When I get some travel money and vacation time I would probably stay within my country because, like America, we're a huge country and you don't have to travel that far to find a totally different environment and culture within your own nation...that and it's cheaper
