HBO - absolutely awesome
I am not an american, but I have to say that over the years all my favourite TV shows seem to come from HBO. I lived in the states for a while and if I was an american I would be proud of having a network like that.
These have been some of my favourites (I am sure ive missed some). True Blood Flight of the Conchords Entourage Tales from The Crypt Curb Your Enthusiasm John From Cincinnati Carnivale Rome Sopranos Band Of Brothers Six Feet Under Deadwood The Wire Generation Kill So my point? Just that this station airs some of the finest television shows out there many of which don't fit into the usual bland and boring mainstream blanket. Long live HBO! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...oadcast_by_HBO |

agreed with Z, sometimes the ONLY worthwhile shows on are on HBO. I should add that on to my monthly package haha. Entourage is absolutely too funny, and Sopranos will always be a classic even though its done. The Wire is absolutely raw too which I like. Need to get into True Blood also.

Re: HBO - absolutely awesome
I absolutely hate tele in the UK and then paying a bloody tax to watch the BBC channels. I yanked my cable, put the box away, cancelled service and subscribe to a local service.
we get HBO movies and other forms of entertainment but I am too busy to watch the idiot box in the evenings, i have reports to finish, contact logs and data to collate for my job. The only thing that makes it worth while are decent movies, some HBO because some of it is rubbish IMO. Now that I have been working from home for the past couple of weeks I appreciate the difference between some of the crap on tele and the quality productions. I now own quite a few and they populate my shelves. I find the best movies to watch when I am working are the Martial arts epics. Liz and I collected over 300 movies so I have lots of material to watch.

Re: HBO - absolutely awesome
With the exception of Breaking Bad and Mad Men on AMC, all of my favorite shows are on HBO. Sunday nights are by far the best nights of television thanks to HBO. I've lost interest in Entourage but I'm digging True Blood (made me lol when I saw Twilight 2 trailer doing what True Blood did better) and Hung. I can't wait until the follow up to Band of Brothers comes out.
I kind of envy someone who hasn't seen any of the HBO series which went on for several seasons because now they have years worth of episodes on DVD/BluRay to watch whenever they want whereas I had to wait anxiously between seasons for new episodes. Grab Deadwood and Carnivale DVD's and don't stop watching until you grow a beard

Re: HBO - absolutely awesome
Fox releases some very good shows (ever since Married with Children), but it has the unfortunate desire to kill them way too soon.

Re: HBO - absolutely awesome
"Band of Brothers" is by far one of my favourite TV shows, and I also recently watched "John Adams" which was great. I recently got Season 1 of "Rome", I have pretty high expectations for that one, as I've heard a lot of praise.
"Generation Kill" was good too, but after the first viewing I doubt I could watch it again. I can't wait for "The Pacific". |

Re: HBO - absolutely awesome
rome, band of brothers, oz, sopranos & deadwood r probably my fave series of all time.
havent seen gen kill yet, heard great things & am looking forward to it as soon as i can get my hands on it. i have all the above on dvd except deadwood(sopranso as there is just to many). the only reason i dint have deadwood is because the stopped making it before it was finished.... wich pissed me of no end. especially when u consider the show they switched to. still think that was a huge mistake.

It also happens to be one of the greatest comedy shows ever written; being almost twenty years ahead of its time. Every American comedy show you've watched for the past ten years has drawn inspiration from it in some way or another. So there. Check it out if you get a chance.

Re: HBO - absolutely awesome
stargate series first aired on showtime... then moved to sci-fi....
it's the ultimate alternative to star trek...
