It's a pity that Hero isn't out on BluRay. It's so beautiful. I hope they eventually let the original edit out.

Re: If I could recommend
I have for years watched the chinese domestic martial arts films, and living in Japan for six years, i got a sense of the Japanese flavored movies. I am happy to see that they just get better and better, even the corny, romantic and idealistic styled movies. I find them more palatable when there is a hook. Now I know that these movies are part of the pop culture of the world now, with so many actors taking on roles in this genre, but it is refreshing to see new faces and old ones too.
I look forward to epic style productions and shorts with all the depth you would come to expect from previous works. I dont necessarily buy or rent becauses of the actors performance, actually I prefer the artistic production, with less CGI and where the good guy (or girl) does not necessarily win. The Korean movies are maturing very well too. Its a wide open field and I want more. If your bored one afternoon, look for some of the old Zaitoichi series or the old Mifune black and whites. RAN is very good from an Artistic standpoint, I enjoy them all. do you remember Charles Bronson and Toshiro Mifune in this segment of Red Sun? Or any Kurosawa movies? Or Zaitoichi, which I dearly love to watch even now. Or a variation of the Musashi tale, this one is not bad and here we go again much later, but just as melodramatic (love it) And Sexual Metaphors? the movies are replete with them. makes you wonder if all the martial arts movies are just sex and violence, but I am sure there are noble values in them too expressed in many ways, depending on your own moral compass, LOL

Re: If I could recommend
Fearless has some great Jet Li scenes, but my favorite Jet Li film is probably Fist of Legend.
You should also check out Donnie Yen in IP Man, dude fights 10 guys in this scene... YouTube - Ip Man (2008)- Ip Man vs 10 Black Belts

Re: If I could recommend
Donny Yen is awesome man, I have to say he is soooo convincing, he really delivered a great performance in The Empress and the Warriors, he is one bad dude...totally owns the scene. Guys like him make it all worthwhile.
I remember seeing him first in Iron Monkey, which I recommend because its very very well made in the domestic chinese style with a bit of Hong Kong flavor oh shit, he was SKY in Hero too... I plum forgot.
