Researchers to Unveil Browser-Based Darknet at Black Hat

Possibly a little old to be submitted to the news section, but interesting nonetheless.

A couple of researchers from HP have found a way for people to join private networks using nothing but the latest, HTML 5 supporting browsers (including Internet Explorer 8). Users join by simply accessing the right address which hosts the darknet application (but without any software being downloaded and installed on their machines). HP doesn't intend to make this a commercial product, nor to release the code to the public, but they will explain and demonstrate the technology on July 29. on Black Hat conference.

Sounds interesting, but kinda leaves a an opportunity for some wrong to happen with that as well. But we'll see where it goes.
