What's your [Favourite] Movie?
What's your fav flick and why? What scene did you like most about it and why?
Mine's NIRVANA - Live Tonight - SOLD OUT! I love the interviews and crossing of scenes during the same song from upstanding to down right obscene. I also loved the sonet Endless Nameless!!!

Blade Runner. All of it. There isn't a shot that I don't love.

Yes it is. BTW, the director's cut or newer. Not the original theatrical release.

Re: What's your [Favourite] Movie?
I guess that's a toss up between The Green Mile and the Shawshank Redemption. Although I absolutely LOVE Ice Age..

Re: What's your [Favourite] Movie?
Dont have anywhere near a favourite, but this was a very underated film Punch-Drunk Love (2002) - very clever I thought and I remember at the time it caught me totally off guard because I was expecting another silly sandler film.

Re: What's your [Favourite] Movie?
I hated Punch Drunk Love. It just felt dumb to me. No offence.
My favourite movie is Little Monsters, from 1989. It's a kids movie, but I've loved it since being a kid - and still do. My favourite scene is also the last scene, so I won't spoil it, but it's very touching. Anyone here a fan? There's a forum for fans but it's pretty quiet. Understandably, I guess. |

Re: What's your [Favourite] Movie?
I've seen waaaaay to many movies to list a definitive favorite (have to break it down by genre and decade) but if I had to go based on amount of viewings it would be Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back.

I have a list of way too many films to like tbh - godfather was a classic - scent of a woman, evil dead 3 (come on its so stupid its brilliant), early star wars stuff, Close encounters, Jaws, Toy story, Citizen Kane, . the list goes on. Also a massive James Stewart fan, most of his films were brilliant - Rear Window, Harvey, Vertigo, Mr Smith Goes To Washington, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, Its A Wonderful Life. Think ive seen every movie on this list http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000071/ |

Re: What's your [Favourite] Movie?
I've recently been watching Hayao Miyazaki's films with my children. I've never been so taken by animation. These films, especially Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle and Princess Mononoke, are a must see for anyone, regardless of your take on animation.

I like older films a lot. I grew to appreciate them in college, as a local opera house used to show Jimmy Stewart and Audrie Hepburn classics every week. I swear I've seen Rear Window 100 times and it gets better with each viewing. |

Re: What's your [Favourite] Movie?
Really? Coraline? I was interested, but got the impression that it was (only) for children. I'll check it out.
(Thinking back a little, a friend that has a similar taste to mine said that she enjoyed it, albeit with a slight warning that it could be targeted at younger audience.)

In a seminar about classical hollywood I was asked about my favourite movies of the time, when I answered she said that she didn't know I was a fan of J.Stewart. I asked her why she said that, apparently every single of the movies mentioned (about 7) were with him starring lol. Love the guy.

Coraline actually makes history because it is the first three dimensional stop motion animation movie and with the dream like mastery of Selick behind it, it has to be one of the greatest animation films ever made. Selick has the ability to express things via his animation that people have been trying (and failing) to do for a very long time. His creative vision is very humbling. |

Re: What's your [Favourite] Movie?
yes that was a great film. i love a movie which deals effectively with characters and real life situations and how sometimes we all overlook the beauty in everyday things while we are waiting for something greater to happen (which often doesn't). I used to study Sociology so im fascinated with how humans interact - the human psyche and various dark places we might visit during life. Did anyone see the latest Woody Allen film? that was great (Vicky Christina Barcelona) - its not quite up there with his greatest work, but it was a massively entertaining film.

I'm glad to hear that Coraline is certified, I saw some lovely stills from the film and while I don't know much about mr Selick, "the guy who worked with Tim Burton on"The Nightmare Before Christmas"" sounds good enough to me.

Too many too choose from and at different times and moods for me.
The Green Mile I think will always stay with me.

Re: What's your [Favourite] Movie?
I've been a huge Wes Anderson since bottle rocket came out (anyone else?).
I've recently watched "Garden State" for the second (and third and forth) time, and found I liked it much more than I did the first time I watched it. Not often I watch a movie which I didn't like at first viewing and found it to be a really wonderful film. Not to say there isn't an amateur quality to it, but the humor (though well hidden at times) is great, and it tells a good story with strong characterization. There is lots of Wes Anderson influence (but it's not a rip off), so if you are a fan you might like it, even if it takes a second look. |

Re: What's your [Favourite] Movie?
One story that's sticking with me at the moment is "The Greatest Story Ever Told". It's a Jesus movie and really shows well what life might have been like for him back then and how things unfolded at the time. The scene that upset me though was when they executed John the baptist. That was really sad and moving.
