Some random thoughts
No particular reason to post this, just felt like sharing.
I was born in 1976. As a baby (yes baby) and up to my 3-4 yo or so, my parents would go to discotheques or whatever and I would listen to music there. We never really had a Hi-Fi system. So, although I LOVED music, I never got to actually listen to modern music till 1986 or so when they bought me a walkman. Unfortunately I wasn't given money to get tapes for it, so I was lucky to have a tape or so per year from other sources... So, till 1987 all the music I could listen to was from some short rides I would have in my dad's car from his tapes or radio, where I would listen to 80's goodness. In 1987 I got my first Atari ST and that was another source of music. I would get from here and there disks with .mod music, plus the assorted demos that were all the coolness at the time (not to be confused with demo games. Demos were like amateur (but great quiality) animation files with some chip music, or the rare digitised clip). I remember I would bring friends to listen to the latest .mod files and trying to convince them how cool it was to have this beautiful electronic music, without lyrics. They would either call me crazy or just ignore the music. I mean, music without lyrics? What's this, 1715? Some time in 1993 I got a portable radio from my grandmother (portable as in about 30cm in length), that would really open my ears to music, although the english language music would stop sounding so good to my ears. I still preferred the 80's to this new 90's music. It felt like everyone was complaining about something and every other was trying to show how rebellious they were. Funny. 1994, my first...record player!!!!!!111!!!ONE!!!!, got about 20 records for it in about a year. Most of them VERY cheap from the local open market, second hand russian classical music, etc. There was a flood of eastern european music at the time. 1995 my first proper Hi-Fi system with CD player. Yes, I had a PC with a CD ROM drive for almost half a year, but it just wasn't the same thing. Over the next 14 years I would end up with hundreds and hundreds of CDs. I love music.

Re: Some random thoughts
Sadly, I was born into an age where there were only CDs and then later the portable audio players. I would love to own some vinyls though!
I don't know about anyone else on here, but I tend to judge how my local culture is doing based off the music played on the radio. So with this logic, my local culture is complete garbage. If I hear Three Days Grace on the radio one more time, not only will I castrate myself, but I will run head-first into a cactus. Also, why is there no love for other audio formats? I tend to use Ogg Vorbis for lossy audio, FLAC for lossless, but finding these formats is a real bitch! I do NOT want 128kb/s CBR MP3! What is wrong with people? Oh, this is all legal of course! Why would I do something illegal? ![]() Furthermore, why does everyone call a portable audio player an "iPod"?

Re: Some random thoughts
currently, i have about 3500 CD's in my music collection (not to mention over 10.000 CDs, EPs, Maxis in MP3 LOL
, don't ask where i got them from... hahahaha ), most of them underground stuff, no matter of the genre (brutal death, grind, p*rn grind etc... about 7 or 8 years ago i got into goa/psy trance, i really have no idea why, but i really love the music, so i started collecting everything i liked), some of them are pop (like the copy i have of Madonna's Ray Of Light - god i love that album, not because of Madonna, but because the music is written by William Orbit), some of them breakbet, dnb, etc... played the piano for about 5 years in basic music school (i never even finished the 5th year, LOL ), played in some bands (still am a member of one), have an electronic music side project, do some DJing from time to time (mostly, once of twice a year)... and that's about it... ![]() a question if i may, i know some of you guys are into metal (i know MacDaddy is LOL ), some of you are into more mellow stuff, some are into pop, etc... i keep up with the "what are you listening right now" thread... does anyone even know any of the bands i listen to...? just curious...

Re: Some random thoughts
I just sent a letter to someone. I shouldn't have and I don't know what the reply will be. I don't want to talk about it, but if my replies are a bit less than perfectly polite as usual (well, for me anyway), then I am sorry in advance.
