skychimp will become famous soon enough

Wink So came the skychimp (user presentation)

Hi

I just registered the forum and thought "lets come to the off-topic and say hi, like the vbulletin suggested" :P

So yeah, the very big reason why i came to driverheaven is to find support into making my mobile core2duo based laptop to its very top by finding all x64 drivers i shall need.

Yet, i got most of all drivers to work quite nicely.. Got a few yellow (!) here and there in device manager but i can already feel the strenght of XP 64 bits whitch renders a very smooth desktop whitch has a way greater responsiveness than xpX86. I am very happy with the product indeed.

The big harshing comes to when i am to install catalyst for my radeon 2600 hd. I canot quite figure why... I tried many diferant ways but the software installer canot be certain that the onboard card is correctly plugged (it canot identify the product)... I tried renaming the 32 drivers set before applying the mobility modder patch to the ati installer so that i make sure that the mobmod does take the 64 drivers, freshly obtained from the gateway's website. No good result at the final end. Whatever the way i patch the catalyst setup, it results in a failure.

Yet i use a pc for musicmaking and gimp painting and to web around lie most of the foes. I am quite the kind to geek around stuff too so the more power i get, the more i can do. I am of the multitask kind to have as many windoes opened at the same time, keeping a strong feet on the timeline so i can achieve as many things as possible in the smallness of my 1280x800 crappy screen :P I could burn a disc while making a track and paint a gimp while enjoying the lastest sounds i managed!

So 64 bits xp isnt just an option, it's a revelation... It represents to me a step further into what i can do and how far i can push it

That's why i need the most help into getting mobility modder to work for my machine and its setup.

I also got a few tricks hidden here and there all round my synapses so i shall take part in a few discussions in whitch i feel able to help with time flowing around and opportunities to take part into the community coming day after day and yet, i feel that just this thread might help may users get their potencial further too .

If one likes those sounds that makes one want to scratch their own face around gently on a bricks wall, go raje.dmusic.com and myspace.com/rajemusic . I canot promise that every tracks will give that feeling, but a few are pure chaotic madness Yet... Thats just my online stuff. I should release a cd one day yah ! :P

So that was about presentation.

Cya

Re : So came the skychimp (user presentation)

o_O But the taskbar is so HUGE XD

And well... I tried it in virtualbox and didnt quite feel like i would ever run with it even if i had it for free with a million dollar cheque from microsoft Himself...

If only it was customizable and not that very static like it is.

Realy, i wanted to have xp64 so i could benefy of the entire core's capacity without quitting xp off...

I didnt like the way vista has cut off legs and limbs from windows5.1 just to look as if they worked hard to inovate :P Like, screensavers are made with a 3rd party dev team selling a screensavermaker tool... Widgets are made by google and what else :P

They realy should re-release Ŵindows 5 with w 7 and w v drivers migration application - and why not, aero....

And as for getting 3rd party softwares - go on - there are a lot of very fantastic free applications that does great things to a computer's ergonomy or usefulness - - - - They should offer nice donnations in exchange of the right to use thise and that and these softwares all aound------- Yah that would even give a good chance to keep these softwares alive and all - - - - hosting their softwares updates at microsoft and having ms to re-update windows update so it can update all the suite...

They got a grab on sysinternals whitch made a few user-friendly tools like their taskmanager....

Microsoft realy should rebuild windows 5 with a heavily collaborative working method.

Like, this all could fit an 8gb dvd and host hundreds of applications - - - -

This would create jobs - - human ressources and stuff - people making the management of thousands third party developpers and would make those 3rd party devs get what they would have got if they did sell their apps instead of making them for free - - - -

Yah so all this said, i still need catalyst drivers for an HD 2600 mobile radeon for windows xp professional x64 edition.

I tried catalyst 9.3 from amd ; no devices met requirement or such..
Tried catalyst vista x64 from gateway for m-6873h laptop and tried mobmoding it - couldnt find the device...
Tried omega drivers - failed...
Tried catalyst 9.9 for xp64 - failed.
tried to find at realy least a vga driver but i failed :P

Yet i found almost all other drivers ... :P

There was also that catalyst updater from amd that failed, hotfix_8.413.2_xp_32-64_53786 ... but mayby this proves that amd still develop catalyst for some models..... Yah.... sucks :P

Even linux catalyst works very fine with x64 technology... / Whitch proves at some point that having catalyst on my x64 xp thing isnt impossible ... :P

Yah yeah so i'd go for win7 only if they hired me and had me push ideas for the desing :P

Re : So came the skychimp (user presentation)

First i did is to try all "web" catalyst packages i could find that seemed "proper" and got a heavy mess to deal with... Used the ati uninstaller package "AtiCimUn-[Guru3D.com].exe" to get rid of the unremoved crap after failures. Then i got searching ati+catalyst+"windows xp professional 64"+"hd 2600"+mobile+torrent and got a package that truly comfirmed me that it included drivers for a mobility, that is 2600, that is for windows xp 64... Package name is "ATi Catalyst™ 9.1 Mobility Driver [XP x64]"
I wouldnt quite give a link for 2 reasons - torrent trackers doesnt give a warrenty of long time availliability, and driver heaven might have rules to respect about trackers i guess... So if i am wrong about rules, ill spread the link out :P

Yet i am unsure if it entirely worked.. At least i got my display installed, and catalyst is now "loadable" and configurable.. But i tried running "brainpipe" whitch is a crazy minimalistic 3d game, as i do not quite have any other game i would like to install currently... But it runs at like 1 fps XD :P MAyby i should check if opengl is fine because the game gives me an ogl-made impression... I'll grab a fresh copy of xbmc whitch i couldnt run i the past for that opengl matter (i found a tweak to regs about opengl and ati around that i might have to use)

Re : So came the skychimp (user presentation)

lol :P Thanx for the +1

The exact link is ATi Catalyst? 9.1 Mobility Driver [XP 64 Bit] (download torrent) - TPB .

I still need to fix opengl so i can run xbmc - this is the next step in my fight against the bits :P

And yet got to figure out why "KM software"'s directX 10 doesnt work with 3dmark

--

Got the openglfix http://www.gamingheaven.net/driverhe...ml#post1295381 but it seems like system is now using defaut microsoft opengl drivers instead of ati's .. .. . ... .. .. .

--
--

Got Trackmania nations forever running at full quality so this is great :P

All i got left is to have openglide to work (Help?)
