ADSL slow speedup
I guess I won't be gaming online for the next month because of this:
Telstra Bigpond my ISP, just notified me be a message by email that my connection has been slowed because I had reach my monthly quota, here's the message: Wednesday, October 14, 2009 9:35 PM Dear BigPond(R) Member, This email is to let you know that your BigPond Broadband service has been slowed to 64kbps because you have reached your monthly usage allowance. Of course, you can't incur excess usage charges on your BigPond Liberty plan - but speeds will remain slowed to 64kbps until the end of the month. An easy, quick way to check your current estimated account usage is with our Broadband Usage Meter - found in 'My BigPond' at www.bigpond.com. The Usage Meter gives you access to a record of your monthly and daily usage for the past six months and is an easy way to fill in the gaps between these email reminders. For more tips on how to manage your usage please visit: Internet usage - Broadband usage - Telstra BigPond. Thank you for choosing BigPond. Kind regards, The BigPond Team (R) Registered trade mark of Telstra Corporation Limited ABN 33 051 775 556 OK. While I'm wondering around my websites at 6.4kp(s) I find my Bigpond web account page and look what I (found)!~ ![]() I just got off the phone with the tech support ladey and she said that if you add up the chargable usage with the "unmetered" usage then it goes "over" "quota"! She then told me a number I could ring and I took it and then our conversation ended. It was really annoying though cause she told me that she was sending me an updated information email and while I was waiting for that to come through I forgot to mention that I was currently updating CitiesXL and waiting for a webpage to load! Uncomfortable silence anyone? Anyway the owner of telstra is an Australian and I live in Adelaide so until his "issue" is made redundant I guess we all have to wait until the interent is ready to serve us. |

Re: ADSL slow speedup
Payback: I just got off the phone with them for the 5th time. They awarded me half of my left over cap which is now 1500MB. Anyway our contract times-out on the 25th so I have upgraded my account from a 25GBcap to 60GB cap then on the 25th we will be going to DODO Internet which we were with before them. I don't even care if I get another 300 bill.

Re: ADSL slow speedup
There still trying to defend themselves. The latest email I got states specifically that the usage was capped beyond specification because of an adjustment in the billing cycle which of course is at their convenience and my expense. Anyway I just sent a screenshot back to them of the above usage stating that their behaviour had been misleading and falsifying and against customer expectations. I don't really care where this goes cause I'm going to another iSP, but it's still fun to see them try to worm themselves out of hard heads and physical proof and evidence.

Re: ADSL slow speedup
This is something that is pissing me off with Bell Canada. First they had no cap, then they added it charging you $2 bucks per GB up to as much as $30 (max amount) more if you go above the usage, then got rid of it, then quietly brought it back, then lowered the cap for certain packages, added 2 fiber speeds (10GB and 16GB), then started to offer a $25 unlimited add-on, then go rid of it, increased the speed of the 2nd highest speed to 12GB, then lowered the speeds on the lower packages (3 and 7 down to 2 and 6) along with the max usages for all the packages (12GB and 16GB lines are now capped at 50GB and 75GB down from 100GB, however because of how old my account is I still get 100GB), and then brought in a "usage insurance" that is 40GB-120GB in which you pay $2-$5 more depending on which insurance you get (you only pay it if you go above the usage amount).
Bloody ridiculous. |

Re: ADSL slow speedup
I thought you should know that I'm now on my new ISP. I joined DODO internet on an 800K 20GB cap.
