I watched the highlights on MOTD on sunday morning.. And found this goal hilarious..

What was more ironic about this goal the ball was thrown in by a Liverpool Fan ..

ok, the ref should, in theory at least, know all the rules.
but, there are circumstances for which you can just never be prepared, and lets be honest, this was one..
as Steve Bruce said after the match (he would of course, but..)

harsh to drop the ref if you ask me.
still, made for some damn funny tv, especially when the camera picked up that 'pool kid punching the offending article onto the pitch in the first place

To me what makes the goal even more stupid...It looked as though Reina had more than enough time to kick the offending obstacle out of the way,I know this may of left him open to the long ball shot.Perhaps it was worth the chance.. as these are not too easy to judge correctly under pressure.

Mind you its also done me a favour,Im a Man UTD Fan so its good to see a rival struggle this early on in the season..

When two balls are in the field , the referee must stop the match and get one out. But maybe the referee thought this rule doesn't include beach balls
