Don't waste your time with Astro Boy, that's a DVD or Blu-Ray rental for sure. I might see 2012 but I'm on the fence right now. I know the special effects are awesome and I expect it to be a stupid disaster movie I'm just not sure if I can take 2 1/2 hours of it. If you've seen everything else out, this is definitely the movie to see this weekend.

I'm going to keep my butt firmly planted on my couch and watch Up instead but I'll be keeping my eye out for Astro Boy when it hits Blockbuster.

I yawned and closed my eyes several times, but it was not quite as bad as I'd expected. I like long movies but here they could have cut out at least half an hour of repetitive CGI and generic Hollywood applepie drama. Still some well done characters kept the ship from sinking(pun^2) and one or two fresh ideas were in the mix. Here's a single spoiler, the dog makes it.

Not likely, especially after seeing that it's from the same guy who directed "The Day After Tomorrow". I just can't see myself enjoying tons of explosions and in-your-face action. Also, I think I'm confusing Emmerich with Michael Bay, but no worries.

Hollywood needs to think of some better formulas and fast.
