Can someone please explain what is the difference between the new News Feed and the Live Feed?

Also, why the fudge did they change the old style?

live feed includes a ton of BS updates from everyone on anything and everything..

including who made it to whatever lvl in whatever.... and statistical crap...

news feed is usually just status updates and wall posts only.... none of that other bs...

New feed is a cut-down selection based on criteria nobody can understand and includes what used to be the "highlights".

Live feed seems to include more junk than the original, some things that you used to only find if you visited your friend's wall.

Wow. You actually use that site for news? I thought it was just for telling other people how cool you think you are and hooking up with loose women. You know, the ones that have profile pics where they hold the camera just above their head and to the right with a photoshopped caption that says "StarTwinkle" or some other nausea-inducing nonsense.

Facebook is glorified for no apparent reason and ultimately, moot from the get-go due to the trite nature of the medium. The same goes for MySpace and Twitter. No one cares about your morning dumps, how many "friends" you have or recent breakups with boyfriends that were like, totally crazy and stuff; but if they do, well, they probably weren't that intelligent to begin with.

Whatever happened to old-fashioned communication? People used to know how to talk in person or on the phone, at the very least. Now it's all text and Tweets. It seems like the only way a lot of people communicate these days is through these self-indulgent and narcissistic mediums.

That makes me a very, very sad bear.

You know, the ones that have profile pics where they hold the camera just above their head and to the right with a photoshopped caption that says "StarTwinkle" or some other nausea-inducing nonsense.

Facebook is glorified for no apparent reason and ultimately, moot from the get-go due to the trite nature of the medium. The same goes for MySpace and Twitter. No one cares about your morning dumps, how many "friends" you have or recent breakups with boyfriends that were like, totally crazy and stuff; but if they do, well, they probably weren't that intelligent to begin with.

Whatever happened to old-fashioned communication? People used to know how to talk in person or on the phone, at the very least. Now it's all text and Tweets. It seems like the only way a lot of people communicate these days is through these self-indulgent and narcissistic mediums.

That makes me a very, very sad bear.
If you look beyond the hordes of tools and girls resembling cheetos you can see the professional benefits of a site such as facebook.
My course at college and all the other media related ones have a private group on facebook run by our tutors, So for instance if you can't get hold of the college by phone you can leave a message on facebook for a tutor.

But that's just 1 example

The "girls resembling cheetos" thing really got to me. Seriously, I laughed so hard that I almost threw up.

Now, I would say that those applications you spoke of could be helpful. But isn't that why we created e-mail and IM? Call me a pessimist, but if Facebook is becoming the social norm for business transactions, school related media and other pertinent information regarding your life, I think I just might have an old Tandy 5600 dropped directly onto my head from the top of the Empire State Building.

Should be enough to do the trick...

facebook is a hell of alot better then that mess of a website called "myspace" or the shit skid mark called twitter...

no applications, friends that are moved into their own catagory as Aquantences, and family members.... no BS.... and i remove anyone that turns into an asshole or just hide them

Whilst i agree E-Mail or IM would be a lot more personal (As personal as digital communication gets ofc) Facebook seems to be a lot easier for my tutors since they can just logon and get everybody's messages ect. at once, And other students in my group that check it can pass on messages to me even though i always back it up by sending them a text or ringing if i'm gonna be late/can't make it in.

My college has tried personal emails and IM's, even teacher's phone numbers before but it's been abused big time. One of my tutors last year was pregnant and of course, hormonal and somebody who had her phone number from college (When they were doing this scheme the year before) started ringing her up late at night and started harassing her, Ringing her up and telling her how he was masturbating and stuff like that. F*cking sick to be frank, Not funny at all like him as his mates thought. Even though they stopped the scheme she changed her number to make sure it wouldn't happen again which is why it got stopped sharpish.
