First I want to say thanks to Driver Heaven and Razer. In advance I'll admit that I am shamelessly enjoying this prize!!

Big Z asked if I'd give a comment once I received this tasty little treat from DH and considering how fantastic this place is I certainly couldn't refuse.
So here we go.

Well I came home this past weekend and found this lovely little package from DHL.
That was fast!
Good thing too, as I was anxiously awaiting the super secret un-x-ray-able BFG900 components.




As you can see Heaven Media did a fine job of packaging this up.
Nothing getting crushed or broken in this box.




But on to the goodie itself.
I won't go into the details because that's already been done by more talented folks than myself

This is an anecdotal review by a casual user, not a game addict or an audiophile.



This is an attractive little package, eye catching with cool colors & Razer's logo (you know, the one designed by Thulsa Doom ).
At least the $45 - $50 you'd spend gets you a nice start.



Now, what's in that geek chic little box.
The earphones themselves, a package of variously sized buds, three adapters (PC, PSP, Nin DS) a nice carry pouch, instructions and a "certificate of authenticity". Oh and a couple of cool stickers with the logo.



Well, that's the fluff. Now on to the important bits.

I don't have any portable systems so all of my review is based on PC and MP3 player use.

I normally listen to music, books & such at work and always do so with a set of cheap Sansa earbuds. These are of low quality. When I slid the Razers into my ears I immediately noticed a huge difference in background noise. These puppies would serve as ear plugs all by themselves - the noise reduction aspect of the RazerMoray is great.

But enough about the silence how about the sound?

When Henry reviewed these things originally his summation was that they were fine but lacking in the bass & treble department if you pushed the ends of the spectrum so I figured I'd look at the worst first. I ran through several of my best "rattle your filling" songs. A little Lords of Acid, Rammstein, Puretone and Salt n Pepa later I agree with Henry. The Moray puts out a crisp clear sound (they make those cheap Sansa buds sound like the cheap junk they are) but if you try to push the bass they start to rattle a bit and quickly lose quality. I didn't really notice any trouble with the high end treble. The Moray also seemed able to handle jacked up volume levels. Certainly much higher than I would ever normally listen to. In short they handle everything that I have a desire to hear.

How about a movie? I slipped in a handy zombie flick. WOW! What a huge difference between those $20 Sansas and the Morays. I heard plenty of sounds and background music and effects that I had no idea were even going on. Big fat 10 in my book here.

How about audio in games?
Well, as I said in my entry for the contest I'm mostly playing FO3 so I plugged in and loaded my last saved game. The sound was great. Again I could detect tiny details and effects that I hadn't noticed before (even with my 5.1 speaker system) ammo cases "pinged" as they fell to the ground. Footsteps could clearly be heard. So the ears get a thumbs up in this department as well.

This lovely prize is going to more than take care of my needs in a pair of ear phones. I might even have to go get myself a psp and start making some calls on Skype just so I can feel like I'm getting the use these things are designed for.

I've little experience in quality earbuds but I can say that Razer and DriverHeaven have made me a very happy boy. And it's not even Christmas yet!!

PS: Since the initial write up on this I've noticed one other issue with these earbuds, or more likely this style of earbud. In the past I've always used the type that sit just outside the ear canal. These sit snuggly down in the ear canal. Helps makes things sound much better. Unless you are eating or chewing gum. These puppies won't stay put no matter what you do if you are working your jaws.
