This is is how I know what music is good and which music sucks.

All you really need to do is ASK yourself, "What makes this good? What elements are at work here to complement each other to making a successful whole?" and also, "What makes this bad? What elements bring the experience down?". If the list of "good" outweighs the "bad", to me, it's worth keeping.

If you like something when you are aware that the "bad" outweighs the "good", then what you have is a guilty pleasure. Think of any popcorn Hollywood movie, for instance.

Anyways, just thought I'd share my method of approaching this matter. I hardly thought about this post, it just came naturally out of my head.
I like your standpoint. It's true. Music is not just a matter of your opinion. It's a matter of having discriminating tastes and good judgement.

Furthermore, if you don't have good taste in music, I can't be friends with you or date you. It's a rule I have. For instance, I dated a girl once who was smart, very funny, had beautiful blue eyes, gorgeous, long blonde hair and an ass like a shelf; but she was really in to Rob Thomas, Maroon 5 and Brad Paisley. Plus, she asked me to marry her three months after we started dating while a Nickelback song, "Photograph", was playing. She said it seemed like "the right moment".

You say tomato, I say F*ck You. Let's call the whole thing off...

They can sound as "good" as Cher did on her single "Believe" - that's what started all this nonsense. She couldn't hit the higher notes on that album(because of her age) so they put a vocal intonator over her tracks...and Voila! What was once a digital vocal implementation designed to make weak singers sound like they have more vocal depth is now the hip-hop producer's flavor of the week.

Leave it to the hip-hop community to polish an already sparkling turd.

good point. however most of the points made why lil' wayne is no good is based on people who don't really even listen to rap and just a genre they prefer. I can't say a BMW sucks if I haven't sat down and driven one. Not just drive it, but to live with it. A lot of people like it, but I don't see the point? I have a Porsche Cayenne and it's a sick car, but obviously BMW has some tough products in their portfolio which their owners love. I don't see the point in death metal and screaming with songs like "blood dripping from a virgin's cunt" which apparently have more depth and substance than hip hop, but people like it. Many of them are the most normal of people too. So I can't say it sucks, but rather the point of the song doesn't work for me.

He's got a point lads, whilst i think most of the UK has turned into a collection of dribbling retards because they like whatever the charts tell them to like, Just because we don't like it doesn't mean they shouldn't.

However i still find the fact you can make "Music" with absolutely no talent these days is disgusting.

Re: Is Lil Wayne that talented.

Music will always change. But I do agree with my mum even though mouse has already said this there will be a change soon when music will be proper music and musician will have to be able to sing and play instruments and after working for years in the music industry I have to say she is normally always right
