The DH/ATI 5770 came today!
Wow guys, that was fast. I wasn't expecting DHL the day after Thanksgiving, but I had to drag my dogs off a guy with a yellow uniform today...... j/k Still shocked over winning this card to begin with. Nice stuff! Thank you!


My winnings included...... the card. It's an engineering sample, so no disks/adapters/manuals etc. which is fine with me. I made a 6 pin adaptor and installed it in the only PCIe X16 motherboard system I have, a Tyan Tomcat with a P4 3.4 550..... Hey it works and I'm poor. All my other systems are AGP.... This PCIe slot is version 1.0a so it's not even up to spec but it's running okay. Obviously I won't be pushing the limits of this card as I don't play games, but it's lower power settings and multi monitor capabilities with be worth it to me, so far it's been a very quiet card and running fine on an Antec 430watt supply.


Now to figure out how I'm going to attach 3 monitors to this guy........

Thanks man........ sorry, no booze. As I don't drink it was a BYOB.......


The card is working well, even though it's very limited by the motherboard. It's very quiet and the graphics look great. Not being a gamer, I did download and install "Track Mania" and ran through a few of the tracks....... I know it's probably not the most graphically intense game, but it was free and looks really good to my eye..... runs flawlessly even on this P4 550. (yes a single core, HT)

A few things I don't like..... and these exist only because my gear is so old...... It doesn't like CRT monitors..... anything besides a 1024X768 will either, not display, or BSOD needing a reboot. (I'm using the latest driver set and Win7) This is a driver issue, I believe, because in safe mode 1280X1024 does work and looks great. Not that I'm expecting extreme backwards compatibility it would be nice to use monitors that I have an excess of on this system instead of one of my few LCD units. If anybody knows a way around this, let me know

Also....... Eyefinity, to use three monitors on this card the display port needs to be used for one of the screens...... something I don't have is a DP capable monitor. I was hoping to use this for my three monitor setup (3XCRT) that I'm now doing with two cards, an AGP ATI and a PCI Nvidia, but that's not going to work with this card....... because all I have is "old junque"

Still, great card! and I'm honored to have won such a piece of tech........

If you guys know of any better free games to try let me know...... No FPS types, and I'm not interested in signing up for anything......

Yeah I had seen that thread on free games, didn't check all of them but wasn't seeing much that appealed to me....... That's why I asked.

As far as GOTY.... I don't post in that competition because I haven't played or even seen any of those games, so I would just be posting what others have said..... That's not quite fair. is it? I didn't compete last year either. That's your guys realm, I wish everybody luck and mark those threads as read........ I'm not here for the prizes you know?
