O M G

I have to admit, I am bizarrely fascinated by shipping damage. This is, bar none, the worst I have seen ever.

My original comments about this to Wyre...

Quote:
Dom: It's hard to look at.
Dom: Jesus what was done to that poor card?
Dom: Someone pounced on that poor thing.
Dom: Nvidia or not, no card deserves such a death.
Dom: Poor 'lil fella, never had a chance.
Dom: It appears to have gotten wet also.

You can't judge a courier based on one bad incident.

I worked at UPS for about 2 years- Believe me- they aren't any better- I know first hand.

You wanna know how many Gateways and Dells I've tossed 4ft, to see it tumble down a pile of boxes? About 1,000. Only to have my boss tell me to go faster! They don't care about anything but speed- breakage is all worked into the bottom line. They expect it- They pay for their mistakes though, without too much of a hassle. You wouldn't believe what I have seen.

Jim Carrey and Fedex

I know, but I don't count the T.V. stuff from 1981 till Pink Cadillac..
I just love that box he takes down the street, I mean he looks like the Fedex guy with that ridiculous hat too, ha ha..And his sincere desire to get the box delivered...and get the crook to sign for it..

I have seen our delivery people bring our HP computers into the hospital and drop them down stairwells and off the end of the truck, Our computer faliures were so bad with the HP's our manager sent all the HP's back and got Dells, instead, and I think it was all to do with who handled the frieght and delivered it, and not the manufacturer of the computer...

The HP's were packaged like a bag of chips...but the Dells were totally insulated...I believe you got to expect these delivery folks to make an honest effort not to drop or overstack computers, but hey, I have seen them drop them,

I've done the same to cards... but they were $5 broken BNC NICs... this is just heartbreaking, nVidia or not. Still getting me the next day, how wasteful that was

I agree. I rather like FedEX. I haven't had any bad shipping incidences yet (hence the fascination with it), but I have found UPS to be kind of dumb.

Case in point: I almost always order from NewEgg, which ships FedEX. I've never had a problem. They are in City of Industry, California. It usually goes fro CoI, to LA, to Phoneix, to Tempe. I've gotten stuff in one day before. Imagine my surprise when I order a CPU fro excaliberPC, who ships UPS. It goes from somewhere in California (can't remember where) to LA, to NEW MEXICO, to TEXAS, then to Phoenix and THEN to Tempe.

Me too man. The vendor replaced the card, though, and filed an insurance claim with Fedex.

Newegg is just good. I've never had a problem shipping with them before.

Today I got a package in the mail, a loaf of pumpkin bread a friend in washington state made for me. It is in one piece (wasn't broken or crushed at all) and tasted really yummy hehe.

EEK! Yikes!

I would bet you money that that thing got caught in a piece of machinery at FedEx. That seems like too much damage (to the card & the CD) for 'merely' being run over by a vehicle. . .
