Combat game banned at military exchanges
Colorado Springs service members will not be able to buy the newest war-themed video game, Medal of Honor, at any military installations.
The highly anticipated combat game takes gamers to the post September 11th war in Afghanistan. But when top military officials learned the multiplayer feature allowed players to chose to be Taliban fighters shooting at American soldiers for points, they pulled the plug. http://www.newsfirst5.com/news/comba...ary-exchanges/ __________________

I don't want to be pulled into political discussion but if they are fighting to bring "freedom of speech" for other people why are they doing the totally opposite towards your own people.
Plus it is a game , you should be able to play by any of factions, just like any other games where you play vs nazis, zombies or any other group. And at the end , some people's terrorist is other people's freedom fighter. EA must be grateful now for the free publicity and promotion the game get.

Re: Combat game banned at military exchanges
"America's army" handles this with mirror scenario's, where everyone on their side are "the good guys", and the others are the bad guys.
Eg. Destroy a hostile outpost / defend your outpost against insurgents. Playing as Taliban, basically replaces "being the Russians", if you are going to have PvP, then somebody has to be the enemy, unless it's all friendly fire!

Re: Combat game banned at military exchanges
This is just like when they took the scene out of Spider Man because he made a web between the two towers to catch a helicopter. Out of sight, out of mind; at least, until September 11 rolls around. Then we can have flags, posters, dioramas, light-up souvenir towers, theme park rides, fast-food combo meals, t-shirts, hats and any other applicable marketing tools with the two towers emblazioned across it.
Double standard is an understatement. |
