Re: Anime

I don't watch regularly but tend to have an Anime binge about once a year where I try to find something new. I've been using AnimeNfo.Com as a way to update myself at those times. But now I've gotten some interesting tips here as well.

Tend to stay away from "school-life" series or pure action, or series specialising on chess/go/tennis/figure-skating/cooking/gah... No doubt there are some great series in there but I've simply seen enough. It's kinda like even though I was greatly amused by Chobits years ago when I was feeling depressed, it's not like I'd instinctively go for another boy-falls-in-love-with-robot ever again.

Every few years I get nostalgic about the Robotech(1985) series. Not so advanced or complicated by todays standards, but I think it set a standard for others to meet. It's also one of the few animes where I can stand english dub. In general it doesn't feel anime to me unless the audio is original japanese. Some fansubs makes you cringe though.

Oh, I just found another series from the 80's that I watched some episodes of back when cable was new here in Sweden (mid 80's) but had forgotten most about. It centered around a submarine that protected earth from an alien attack(deja vu) and I knew the series had something with submarine in the name, but couldn't find it until now. No wonder since the edition I saw called "Thundersub" was not the original or later used name, and it's actually called "Space Carrier Blue Noah"... A few minutes on Youtube has me doubting its quality, but I'll give it a chance some day if I can find the japanese version.

Re: Anime

I've been debating it. I heard while it's entertaining it's also very stupid / fanservicey.
