travel scam stories?

So today I think some company from NY was trying to scam me. I registered for some contest at the Toronto autoshow a few weeks ago I guess for unlimited gas for one year. I get a call from some company called GV travel that I won some all inclusive 2 week Florida trip and cruise and some other shit. They make it sound everything is documented, but ask me to write down info. The tickets are free but require a $199 initial fee. So they need my credit card number. They asked me if I want to register I can for no fee then my reception cut out.

On a scale of 1 - 10, how funny is this scam? And if you know someone personally that has been hit by something like this?

Pretty jokes lol. They will call back give me some strategies to play with them lol.

I can smell that scam all the way down here in Ohio....... Not a nice smell either. Just sayin'

it defiantly sounds like a scam coz if you won a competition you shouldn't have to pay anything whatsoever .....the stench of deception ...

Companies from my experience dont just call up people and offer rewards, its only after you have been a long standing customer will you stand a chance at winning something , my mom won $1500 (P10,000) after being a customer for over 10 years and thats after she perhaps spent at least us$250000(over a 1million pula) on stock buying and selling at her shop.

When its too good to be true, it probably is.

I know someone that has last almost 5 grand because they were called repeatedly about them winning a 50,000 1 ton dually truck..

surfice it to say..... he got taken for a good some of cash.. that scammer was laughing.

oh yeah i know guys...i actually entered the contest for two reasons:

1. in 2006 I won an iPod nano at the autoshow. There was some GM honk to win and they actually contacted me and sent me the nano

2. I was kinda tipsy, snuck in some booze with my boys. So I didn't care and signed up lol.
