No Need for Fishing Gear on this Boat Trip

I was born not too far from this area in Indiana. But, I never did see this phenomenon with my own eyes. I think I may be glad I didn't! It looks like it could be dangerous!

Anyway, take a look at these Asian Silver Carp so eager to get caught they actually jump INTO the boat!

Those are actually non native species and ecological disaster for the native fish. The Asian Silver Carp can filter particles as small as 4 nm from the water. Basically it will eat every single bit of food there is in the river....

Yes, they are non-native but have been imported -- or otherwise introduced -- into 88 countries around the world.

I do, very well, recall my grandfather and others, doing some carp fishing with the dough balls and small hooks. I remember making up those dough balls several days in advance so that they would dry out and not dissolve so fast once dropped into the water. Otherwise, they would simply dissolve quickly and be of no use at all.

Dyre, in NA they were used as cleaning fish in the fisheries and some of the escaped the ponds in the fisheries and spread to the rivers and lakes.

Not really.... Carp jump like that when there's no boat or anything else to disturb them. Typically it's the males "showing off"

Not true on these fish. Since females does it too

Look up on the wikipedia. Because of this they have caused serious injury to people in the US.
