Shuttle Lunch
I'm in Titusville Fl. We (wife and #1 son) came down in the motorhome for the launch yesterday. Unfortunately the launch was scrubbed, and it's currently scheduled to launch on Monday.
So, I'm sitting in a KOA campground just out side of Titusville FL, HOPING that the shuttle WILL launch on Monday, since this is the only chance I'll ever have to see one 'live'. If not, then I'm going to miss it, as we will have to go back to the "cold, wet north". This is pretty much the MH's 'Maiden Voyage". We have gone down to Cincinnati (225 miles) and back a couple of times but those were more like shake down cruises. Trip down wasn't too bad, other than a lot of wind which keeps you on your toes as this thing is like a giant sail. when a gust of wind hits it, it wants to change lanes ![]() Lots of rain, which was a part of the storm system that spawned to tornadoes just to the east of our route. I'm loving the weather here. Highs in the mid 80's lows in the mid-high 60's, and SUNNY. Sure beats the wet rainy miserable weather, with highs in the low 60's and lows in the low 50's in NE Ohio right now. IF the shuttle launches, we will be taking pics, and I'll be sure to post some. Edit: Forgot to add. I'm munchin on some boiled peanuts, and Gator Jerkey. First time I've every eaten either. Peanuts are OK. Gator is tasty, but even by jerky standards pretty "chewey". That's not all bad though, as that just lets the taste last longer

Re: Shuttle Lunch
Post pics of motorhome :P
Hopefully you get to see the launch - that's a fair old trip you've taken to not get to.

Re: Shuttle Lunch
An oddity lunch by the sound of it.
I think I'd settle on a very small piece of that jerky. I do hope it gets off well on Monday then.

Re: Shuttle Lunch
Good luck with the launch, I wish I had the opportunity. As far as I know, the launch site closest to me is in Borat... I mean Kazakhstan.

Re: Shuttle Lunch
Wow, that's quite an accent you have there
![]() Nice motorhome too, even if it is only a year younger than I am . Seen houses with worse kitchens - was that microwave fitted in 1993?What kind of MPG do you get with a 7.4L petrol V8? I guess at least it can't be too slow - motorhomes of that size in the UK tend to get 4-cylinder turbo diesel engines of about 3L, and be based on vans rather than trucks.Anyhow, thanks for the vid ![]() (Subscribed to your channel btw )

Re: Shuttle Lunch
On the trip to FL and back we averaged right at 7 MPG. That includes fuel used for running the generator. I forgot to look at the hr meter on the gen before we left, but I'm guessing that we ran it for about 18 hrs or so. Gen will use anywhere from .75 to 1 GPH depending on the load.
I had the cruise control set at 65 MPH most of the time, and the 454 wasn't working all that hard at all on the flat and level. It would "grunt" a bit on some of the longer hills going thru KY and TN. Yeah, not the greatest gas mileage, but then I wasn't paying for 150.00 a night hotel rooms, and 30-40.00 for restraint meals either. So in the end, it's really not much more expensive that traveling by automobile. Yes, the microwave is original equipment, as is everything else that you see. I will be replacing the 13" CRT TV with a Vizio 26" HD. I just got that puppy in today, and need to get it mounted.

We didn't get a microwave in our house until 2009

Re: Shuttle Lunch
My, a whole kitchen and a shower too now that is a nice thing to have.
That laptop looks just like my moms Pavilion Athlon XP that just keeps on going. Upgraded RAM some years ago and blewn out dust a couple of times, that's it. |

Hey, that thing is pretty well organized. Also, nice to get a chance to hear a member's voice.

Re: Shuttle Lunch
I'm assuming you came down and went back up I-75 on your trip. If so, you passed less than a half mile from where I live in Marietta, GA. I'm at the north end of Marietta not too far from Kennesaw. I have to assume that since you went through KY and TN.
Someone mentioned awhile back that they saw a huge motorhome going toward Florida towing a Mini Cooper. In the rear window of the Mini Cooper was a sign that read, "Please be patient. I'm pushing as fast as I can."

Re: Shuttle Lunch
Yup, I was on I-75, all the way up to Cincinnati. Then it was I-71 to near Cleveland.
Motorhomes are pretty well organized. I do like mine, BUT, should I ever win the Gazillion $$ lottery... YouTube - ‪2011 Prevost H3-45 Luxury RV for Sale at Motor Home Specialist "The Centurion"‬‏ MSRP on the 2012 version of that puppy is in the 1.9M range ![]() That's how the other half lives
