Investigative journalism seems all but dead and the people who call themselves journalists around here are often barely literate, uneducated *expletive of choice*. Thanks to them, I have recently had the privilege of reading about "the picturesque Italian town of Tuscany", as well as a ruling of the court in the "Indonesian city of Sharia". I browse through papers when some fall into my hands, solve the sudoku puzzle and sometimes the crossword (they are made by the same kind of people who write for the papers, so unless you're from the same village as them, you're in trouble), but I never buy them.

There's a mixture of good and bad newspapers here. We call them broadsheets and tabloids respectively...

Almost all of them have some sort of political agenda, however, so you have to keep that in mind while reading. Personally I get my news from the Guardian's website, rather than paying for a paper or watching invariably awful TV news.

Copy and paste, thats all its is, just flick through the news channels to see the same headings the same point of view if you want to see how a different point of view go to the arab/ chinese and/or russian channels. Which lean less to the pro-American salute like CNN and BBC and the like.

if ur desperate for good use of a newspaper you could use it to whipe your bottom, make sure to swaffle it in your hands first as you dont want paper cuts

i used to buy a newspaper every day for the cryptic crossword, then they started putting the crossword up on their site every morning, so i stopped buying a paper.
these days they're wrappings for suppers, and for getting rid of cold fire ash, and that's about it.

if net enabled tablet devices were cheap and abundant, they could completely replace newspapers and books....

but theyre not.... and at least for now, the newspaper is one of the most versatile things around!

its informative.... then you can wipe your ass with it, use it as a disposable table cloth, protect valuable objects, beat someone/something with it, and possibly compost it!
