Anybody on it? What are your opinions on it?
Also, if you don't already have an invite, I'll be happy to send one your way. I'm ready to see Facebook die.

I am there, trying to convince my friends to dumb facebook quickly and convert.
I just made my account today so no feedback but the first impression is like : anything would be better than facebook because there can't be posssibly worse.

Re: Google+
Definitely. Even Myspace (At some point) was better than Facebook. The UI on Google+ is really cool. There's lots of motion compared to Facebook and it seems a lot simpler. The only thing I'm dreading from them is ads. I hope they don't become a major part of the site like in Youtube.

Re: Google+
I don't even know if I'll be active with this, social sites have never been my strong point, better not waste your invites, I'll try it when it's live, I thaught it was already live.

Re: Google+
It's motion in a good way. If you've ever used Windows Phone 7, you'd know what I mean. It's minimal, but it's effective, and not the least bit distracting or bothersome. It requires interaction.

Re: Google+
I love Google+. I feel like the UI could use some tweaking, but once it's fined tuned and actually has (more) people on it, it could definitely dethrone facebook.

Google+ will defeat Facebook in the near future, at least I'm hoping it will.

Re: Google+
I did get an invite and did sign up and got a family circle started. Not sure just how it's going to develop down the road.
What I would LIKE to see with these social networks is a way to keep Family/Friends completely isolated from, say, Co-Workers and Acquaintances. I don't quite like the idea of a complete hodge-podge of every single person I know being able to have complete access to every thing said and done. (Yes, I do know that you can limit certain people from seeing your posts and such on FB with the limited options e.g. Family Only, Family and Friends, etc.) But, what I'm getting at is, lets say, now that I have several "Circles" available to me, I can select only one or a combination of Circles to be active during a session so that only those in that/those circles have access during that particular session and any subsequent sessions. I hope I'm explaining this adequately. Maybe Google+ is doing this and I just don't know it, yet. But, one thing that has become completely annoying to me on FB is the horrendous amount of posts I have to scroll through on my Blackberry with nothing but "I need help with "Farmville/Zoo/You Name It". I've tried blocking those and it just seems that too many people have nothing better to do. I don't mind the personal posts and updates but these game apps are driving me bonkers! |

Re: Google+
It's like you read my mind Dyre
Completely separate circles that entirely isolate family, from random forum friends, from shite you have to sign up for to enter comps would be great I got an invite last week but haven't had time to play with it yet, but one of the things that I hate about FB is what a PITA it is to manage everything. I don't necessarily want some random bloke I vaguely know from a forum looking at pics of my new niece etc, and that's why I hate FB. Google+ has the potential to be awesome, so long as they do it right

As a follow-up, I did create a Circle for my Family. I sent invites out and two of my family (a son and daughter) accepted and joined my circle. Now, when I logged back in, I could see some posts to my son's circle, but not my daughter's...UNTIL I clicked on her icon/photo and then the posts showed up. Is this due to my not being a member of that particular circle she had created? If so, then why could I still see all the posts to her "status" if I'm not a member of that particular circle? This is the point I was trying to make: If I want to restrict content to be seen by ONLY certain people, I don't want them circumventing it by just being able to click on my icon and get to everything. I'm definitely still using the training wheels on this. |

Everything's working fine for me, plus there's already a Family circle when you started using it so my guess is you've got one of them in the Family circle that was already there and another in a circle you made, thus making them separate circles. Click on "View All" under In Your Circles to the top right to see who's in what circle. I created a Forum Friends circle and that's where anyone I am friends on HH who I add is going, pm me your name or your profile web address and I'll add you if you want. I'll also give you my name so you can add me.

Now, another possibility may be that my son is actually using a Gmail address. My daughter is not. So, could that be some of the reason behind me not seeing her circle on the Home page? |
