For many, it's not "fascination" with drugs it's escaping....... Escaping something that you can't comprehend. Doesn't matter if it's real or something imagined, they see no other way to deal with it. I'm not saying it's right, just saying that none of us know enough to pass judgment.

never gave a shit about her music and still won't, but a substance abuse problem is more than your motivation. your body bonds with it, so we cannot blame her for the extent it got to. better to stay away from that shit, some peoples body and mind can't stop.

It's a shame that another life has gone at the hands of those drugs. In all the history we've lost some great people like this. This shows that helping isn't always enough.

I've never listened to her music, but other did.

The only shock will be if she died from something other than drugs. The woman was a wreck and a cautionary tale if there ever was one. Sadly, it looked to me in recent pictures that she had gotten herself together quite a bit but I guess that wasn't enough. I hope it was not a drug related death but lets be realistic here she was a walking corpse for years this was not some sudden tragic overdose like many musicians died from.

This is basically what it is but it's not always how it starts. Sometimes it just starts out as fun shit to do, that nothing you take can mess you up because you're "in control" of everything, that nothing you take can harm you. It almost always starts out when you're young and think you know it all.

After the fun wears off though, that's where what Tyrsonswood wrote comes into play. It's not so much that you're escaping as you are "dealing" with things and there isn't any other way to deal with things other than taking what ever drug you started to use. You start needing it to make any large decisions, to talk to certain people, to deal with certain situations and then eventually, it's just to get out of bed in the morning.

Some people are lucky enough to catch themselves before going in to deep, others need to have something bad happen for them wake up, others need to hit absolute rock bottom in order change and then some, like this chick, can never pull it together.

This is from experience. I got a DWI in 93 and 95 along with a coke possession charge that was dropped. It wasn't until my ex found out that she was pregnant in 98 that I finally pulled my head out of my ass, realized what I was doing, where I was going, sobered up and went back to school for computers.

Drugs are fucked up, there's no denying that, but people don't buy them just to get away from everything to start out with. There isn't some dude standing on corner pushing this shit. It starts very small, a pain pill from the parents bottle that feels good or from a friend or someone just offering a drink to you and goes from there. It's how people start smoking cigarettes. People don't plan on getting hooked and dieing of lung cancer but it happens all the time. Street drugs are no different, it's exactly the same on how it starts.

It annoys me off that every news outlet was reporting she had bought cocaine, ketamine and ecstasy hours before she died and now they're like 'oh, maybe not'.

i won't make the assumption that bluemak has made about how or why she died.... because for all we know while it may have a high likelyhood of being correct.... it's definitely not known for sure at this time... But DEFINITELY a contributing factor....

granted that she's a internet meme for being a crazy drug/alcohol addict and is known to be outright crazy.... there are numerous claims made about becoming clean..

personally i don't really care aside from the fact that someone died unnecessarily.... at a young age.... and i give her far less credit for the frequent and repeated mistakes she made.... so while the life is valued in some way.... it had less value in the end than majority of the population around the world that die due to reasons that should have been prevented that weren't self induced.
