I watched a couple of trailers. I have to say, it is looking good. I don't know when I will be able to watch any episode, but, if you do watch it, how is the new intro? The "old" Thundercats intro is one of the best ever.

There was no intro for ep1/2, and no significant music for that matter...well not in the same way the original used music. This was a more modern/movie style orchestral score. From that score a few musical sections that were possibly designed to remind "old" fans of the original, although I did read that the composer didnt watch the original (which is a mistake if true imo). The use of the original Lion-O voice actor for his father was also noticable.

The overall "universe" is quite different to what we have seen before also. An improvement? Not so sure...it almost felt like they were going with a BSG style "all this has happened before, it will all happen again" style but that seems not to be the case.

What I will say is that it doesnt seem to have the something special of the original but it did have a couple of decent scenes and didn't put me off watching the next few. I would however recommend you try and forget everything you know about the original though (which is why I also think people who havent seen that will enjoy this more).

EDIT: I also have to say that it is definitely more adult than the original. That Snarf is far less annoying (so far) and that Wily Kit/Cat have been very much improved as characters, they have a very real brother/sister relationship.

Plus I herd this take place generation later down the road I think? I think there still on 3rd earth? But it was freaking sweet watch again.

Thats not what I took from it, it seems they are going for 3rd Earth being the home of the Thundercats (so there is no planet Thundera). The characters are all the same age as they were in the original but the world around them has been re-imagined.

Thats kind of the reason I say forget what you know about the original... it just causes confusion with the new "universe".

Just watched it. Being an original Thundercats fan, I can't say I'm disappointed. It's different than what I was expecting, but I know I'll be watching it every week.

Thundera is a kingdom of 3rd Earth now, just btw. You can find the first two episodes on videobb if you search around long enough (not on hulu or cartoonnetwork.com. What a shame.).

I guess I was too into Transformers and GI Joe as a kid to understand what Thundercats was all about but I did check out the new series and it was surprisingly good. I was especially impressed with the animation quality; I can't remember the last time I saw that much detail outside of a big budget anime.
