Re: Dark Knight Rises filming in Pittsburg
Yeah, looking forward to this movie.
Strange that those tumblers seem to be the military versions of the vehicle. Not Batman's version. Also, you've gotta wonder what the designers thought when they saw Batman driving around in their car. |

Re: Dark Knight Rises filming in Pittsburg
1) It's spelled Pittsburgh
2) Pittsburgh was the home of Andrew Carnegie (father of American steel business) and is the home of Carnegie Mellon University, one of the US's best tech universities (it regular beats/competes with MIT and CalTech) 3) Pittsburgh was a steel and coal production town -- it was heavily infested with smog for decades. The continuous smog has permanently left irremovable smog-taint on older buildings, such as the one pictured. PS: The Tumbler in Batman Begins that Bruce Wayne tests at his scientific division has the same paint job. It was originally to be a shock troop-type vehicle, but the military never invested. Maybe they finally have?

Re: Dark Knight Rises filming in Pittsburg
'Shock troop' and 'bridging vehicle' is basically the same concept isn't it
![]() Interesting what they're gonna do with Bane. In the comics Bane is insanely huge but these movies tend towards more realistic characters. |

Re: Dark Knight Rises filming in Pittsburg
To be fair, "Returns" did have a better villan (Catwoman) and the newer movies the best Alfred. I'd rather have Michael Keaton than Christian Bale any day though... soooo wooden, and that annoying deep whispering voice he uses. Argh. (And a complete prat to boot)

Re: Dark Knight Rises filming in Pittsburg
For me the Nolan Batman movies are by far the best put on screen so far. It's hard to be objective about the Keaton movies because they were made in a different era - the 1st one was OK. It was hailed as a return to a real dark Batman but over the course of the sequels they got steadily worse until the absolute shitfest that was Batman & Robin.
I never liked Keaton, he was just to weedy to be Batman. Batman is a 6'2" man trained to physical perfection. Keaton was not even close to that, Bale isn't that either but he's much more believable in the role. I could never accept Keaton as a heroic figure. The Batman voice in the new movies though is over-processed - still, Batman has to conceal his identity. |

Re: Dark Knight Rises filming in Pittsburg
I'm disappointed that this will be the last of the Bale batman movies...it better be amazing. I really wanted to see Catwoman, Killer Croc, more of the Scarecrow, and Penguin at some point, but eh. I really liked Dark Knight -- much more realistic/gritter than past, though the 1989 version still holds a spot in my heart as the first Batman movie I watched (at the wonderful age of 1 in 1994).
@Stu: Yes, you would be correct, it wasn't his home. He founded the museum system there as well as Carnegie Mellon University, but he never really lived there (short of throwing billions of dollars into the place). Good catch :P

Re: Dark Knight Rises filming in Pittsburg
You know I expected the new spider-man to be a continuation as well, so we would see more of spidey's enemies, yet I found out seeing the trailer it's just the all story again, just different...what's the point in that? Trying new actors?
Truly they both better be good to be worth watching. On a side note, I'm not even going to ask, and I'm heading to Wiki to see who is that Andrew Carnegie that everyone's talking about

Re: Dark Knight Rises filming in Pittsburg
He's one of the richest men in American history (sort of like a Bill Gates of his day).
As for Spidy, it's supposed to stick to the comic closer. I highly doubt it could top Spiderman 1 or 2, but 3 just sucked so badly it has to make up for it. And each director does their own series, and tends not to continue off of older ones -- its' a "reboot", or retelling.
