Graphics demo competitions

not sure where to put this, but does anyone remember there used to be a group of people who would make graphic demo's to win competitions?

I was always impressed by the cool stuff people use to come up with.

& so I've been looking on google to see if any organisation/groups still do this sort of thing but I'm coming up empty.

anybody know what i'm on about? and can point me in the right direction?
There must be loads of these demo's out there by now, (If it's still on going?)

In fact if anyone can find the download file for the one in the video I would be very pleased. it looks really good

Also, only takes up 177k HD space, tho i find this very hard to believe?

OK so i found it. lol and OMFG how does this run from only 179kb disk space? that's un believable. check it out for your self guys! and let me know what u think.

uh yes..... i remember all these and i used to frequently run them... that sub 24kb category was the most impressive for so much graphical and musical stuff jammed into it.. although i know the computer itself is used to "create" it from scratch essentially.... the little bit of information is just the blueprint.

There are other ones....

I also remember this one. I probably still have some of the others filed away somewhere. (I rarely ever just "Delete" stuff. ;-) )

Still an awesome accomplishment and runs dandy at 1920x1080/16:9.
