Favourite childhood programme?
So, I've got a fancy dress party coming up at New Year,
Theme is cartoon characters and it got me thinking of all the awesome cartoons we had in the 80s. I'm probably going to go as He-Man, as firstly it was my favourite cartoon, and secondly I only need a blonde wig I already have the physique and banana hammock. ![]() So what was your favourite cartoon/programme growing up? Some more of my favs would be Super Ted, Bananaman, Shoe People, Poddington Peas, Thundercats, Transformers, MASK, a show I can't remember the name of but had futuristic cowboys in blue and white uniforms and of course Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles. |

Re: Favourite childhood programme?
Isn't it Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? I used to like Sabre Riders, Stone Protectors, Denver the last Dinosaur, Transformers, Widget the world watcher, BraveStarr and Carebears to name a few.
Man were those the days.

Was Hero in the UK because at the time they were scared of Ninjas.
I think BraveStarr is the futuristic cowboy cartoon I was talking about! thanks |

Re: Favourite childhood programme?
Thundercats was always good and almost nothing as good as its intro music.
Few shows I absolutely loved from the 1980's. Captain Harlock. Count Dackula Ducktales Fraggle Rock (yes not cartoon but close enough) Ghostbusters G.I.Joe Inspector Gadget Jem (yes, I did from time to time) Macron 1. (finally found the name! With seriously complex intro and story like no other cartoon before it Macron I opening - YouTube they don't make them like this any more, wish there was a dvd release) Robotech Smurfs Thundersub/Blue Noah Sport Billy TMNT Transformers (the original none of that bullcrap that came later) Ulysses 31 (still feels like new today, perhaps my top favourite with Robotech) And others I can't remember now. Like the one where the team of heroes were wearing helmets and cape like birds. That was awesome and used to have comic books of them in English. (it was late 70's IIRC series which is why I can barely remember it since I was 4-5 at the time) I miss that part of my childhood. (I intentionally did not comment on the banana hammock thingy...)

Does anyone remember Samurai Pizza Cats? Or Biker Mice from Mars? Or She Ra? Or Mr. Bogus?
Yes, Tranformers, He Man, Raggy Dolls, Danger Mouse and Tom and Jerry and all the classics were good too.

Re: Favourite childhood programme?
Not even Tom and Jerry?
And yes I used to watch Ghostbusters too. And BlueMak I think the cartoon with people who wear helmets you're talking about is called Battle of the Planets, or a later reworking called G-Force. I used to love G-Force.

I'd better duck and run from this thread! LOL! I was working very, very hard during the 80's to provide for my family and don't remember almost ANY of the ones mentioned.
![]() Now, if you had mentioned Road Runner/Wile E. Coyote, Mr. Magoo, Tom Terrific, Mighty Mouse, and such, I'd feel right at home.

Re: Favourite childhood programme?
Once Upon a Time… ("Il était une fois…")
Especially the Space part. ![]() Hard to find much on it online that's not in french though. It was probably dubbed in swedish when I saw it on TV, as I was too young to have gotten much from it if texted. I haven't seen it since so I can't really tell how good it was, but it had a profound effect on me at the time.

I forgot about this. The show was fantastic. The design of the spaceships was AAA quality. With a mix of diplomacy, action and mystery, one of the best series! If you find episodes of it, please let me know!

Re: Favourite childhood programme?
I know they're not 80s or anything but who remembers Cow & Chicken? And I am Weasel? They were really funny and I loved how that red guy would walk on his butt. Also The Power Puff Girls, Dexter's Lab and Grim & Evil, Billy and Mandy crack me right up. I have to admit I was still watching cartoons well into my teen years.
