Where's a good place to buy a TV?
Okay, so as the title suggests I'm going to be buying a new TV around February so I was wondering where I can get the best bang for my buck. I've decided it has to be either an LG or a Samsung, checked the prices on NCIX.com and they're nothing to write home about.
Also checked the egg and they didn't seem to have the product range I was looking for. I'm looking for a 42'' Samsung or LG. LCD or LED LCD, doesn't matter, either one will be good. So far the best price I've found is at Costco, a 42'' LG for $550. As stated above, I don't mind buying one online.

CostCo may be your best bet for the lowest prices.
I've been keeping an eye on the HH Gregg ADs in our area. If I were in the market for a TV, I'd be walking their store to get a good idea of just how good/bad the image is for what I'd be wanting. I honestly think you'd be better off doing an up close and personal view rather than trusting something from online for an item as important as this. |

You're right, I think I'm better off walking the store. I'll definitely visit Costco and have a look around, I'm certainly not going to Best Buy or Futureshop though.

Also, I don't know about your area, but, in our area there are those stores that will match a legitimate online price for an identical product if they have it in stock. So, find what you really want, find some low prices, and then print out some copies to take along with you. Good luck! |

Re: Where's a good place to buy a TV?
Thank you, I should add that I'm replacing an old 32'' Samsung which has served me well. It would be nice if I could get another Samsung as when it comes to screens they are the best imho.

Re: Where's a good place to buy a TV?
Callandor..... you may want to check out Audiowarehouse in Saskatoon Audio Warehouse - Saskatchewans Audio and Video Specialists!
check out the 40" Samsung Series 5 D550 model .. there are 2.. one is LCD and one is LED... obviously for your pricerange, getting a decent LED is a serious NO NO... LED that doesn't have terrible bleed through and just shitty color/brightness issues are always going to be more expensive. Although the Series 5 LED model is nicer.. it's also more expensive. it's a 1080p 60hz TV that looks pretty damn good, However a 6 Series 650 would be great.. unfortunately they don't make them available to "REAL" retail stores anymore.... and are being made shitty... Personally i wouldn't buy a tv online.. not with the way shipping will be, and definitely considering the way current weather/time of the year.... unless your plan on ordering in may or june. I had a 2nd hand Series 6 650 (before they turned to crap) for $850 retail on them is $1600.... and no.. don't tell me you can get it at future shop for $900 because that's not an apples to apples comparison... they are most definitely not the "same thing"

Re: Where's a good place to buy a TV?
Futureshop without a doubt, that's always my first stop online for tv's, either go in the store and haggle on the price (get sale price on non sale price model etc) or buy online when they are on sale or clearance. FS has some of the lowest prices on tv's I used to check them compulsively and they have good sales as well as carrying the top models whereas other stores tend to carry the budget models.
42"'s are usually on sale more than any others especially this time of year when there was awesome deals on Boxing Day. Some of these sales will still be on into the New Year. 2nd place I would go is Kijiji, people sell their tv's all the time to upgrade to larger models I've seen some wicked deals on tv's in mint condition. No tax and these people often deliver for free. If they got it from Future Shop you'd even get the receipt ![]() Saskatoon plasma classifieds, find plasma in Saskatoon - Kijiji Saskatoon Free Classifieds Or if you're picky, decide on a brand and model first which has the features you want then find the place that has it for cheapest. That usually works for me.

Judas, I will check out Audio Warehouse, and Omega maybe I should go to Bestbuy and Futureshop as well. I think I'll shop around till I find the best looking TV for the best price. And Judas, that's right I want a 42''.

Re: Where's a good place to buy a TV?
Samsung doesn't make a 42" LCD/LED tv..... never have far as i recall the last 7 years... at least not in canada unless "imported" or sold with a samsung name slapped on a non samsung or jobber product.
42" plasma.. sure.. .but not LCD/LED ... always have been 32/37/40/46/52/55's if you could spend the cash.. the newer 6300/6500 tv's in the 6 series are amazing... although they only give half resolution 3D capabilities (6400/6420/6500 and up only have 3d capabilities @ half resolution).. FULL 3D HD requires the move to 7000 7 series or higher. either way.. the 6 series is amazing for movies and games.
