Unlimited Detail Graphics Demo v2

Remember about a year and a half ago when we were presented with some pretty ing amazing graphics demo where it essentially ment infinite detail and graphics capabilities..

Well i missed it but back in july/august... they submitted a new video which is pretty damn cool...



grab your 1080p and watch the near 8 minute video full screen...

screw unreal 4 engine and doom whatever engine or crysis .....

Very cool, what kind of hardware are they running it on tho? That could be the draw back, either it's a Celeron and it's the graphics companies who are gonna be sending the boyz round... (I used to develop Unlimited Graphics... until I took an arrow to the knee) or it needs a pretty monster rig and just isn't feasible right now.

Alternatively it's been rendering for the last year and that's where they disappeared to

They stated in the video it's running in software mode at approximately 20fps which is crazy unbelievable since running a rasterized version of DX8/9 is almost impossible in software mode at anything above 5 fps with a very limited amount of work to be done....

I don't know... considering the fact that the Australian government had been pumping funds into them since their first introduction, not to mention that cmon, how often do we see pre-previews of the doom let alone unreal engines before they even have an sdk waiting behind their doors. But that time arrives, we are usually already seeing a game or 2 being developed...

I'm not saying it isn't possible that it is just a big scam... however.... still reading up on it... and the technology and how it works...... does indeed make sense. I think it's pretty ballzy for the creator of minecraft to spout off about it being a total load of crap and that it MUST use several hundred terabytes of data to render such complexity.

This coming from a guy that created a game using java....... that has one of the lowest poly counts per object for years......

Not saying minecraft doesn't have some very high complexity because you start dealing with huge numbers of those 6 sided blocks which is essentially 12 polies per block..... things add up quickly....

but still.... even the doom father, John Carmack didn't deny it being possible but said he couldn't see it arriving as a realistic option for another few years requiring much more work to be done on their engine.

Personally i would love to see someone either volunteer or offer OR have the company pay a Graphic Artist/Game Developer expert to come up with some demo style graphics along with imports from the real world for the engine to render out and show off to the world.

The last bit of information I've dug up looks like they are accepting the challenge of proving that they can do realtime lighting and animation. So we'll see.
