A self-made millionaire was getting well up in years and decided he was going to take it with him when he goes.

So, he called his three grown sons into his plush office one evening, had them sit down in the plush office chairs in his luxury office suite.

"Fellas," he began, "I've worked too hard for all of what I have and I know I'm not going to around forever. So, I've decided that, when the time comes for me to go, I'm going to take some of it with me."

He continued, "Under each of your chairs is a large briefcase filled with $1,000,000 cash. I'm going to have you swear an oath that, at my funeral, the last thing you will do before the lid on the casket is closed, is that you will walk by and place that briefcase on me. Then, once the casket is closed, you'll go and make sure that I'm buried with it."

They each swore the oath to do so.

The day finally came and they were all at the funeral. As the last act of their oath, they each placed a briefcase on the body, watched as the casket was closed and then followed to the cemetery to make sure he was buried with it.

Then, as they were walking back to their own limousines, the youngest son spoke up.

"Guys, I can't stand it. I have to make a confession. Over the years since Dad gave us that briefcase, I've had some things come up and I broke into that and used some of the money. But, I did put $600,000 in there," he said.

"Well, now that you've started," the middle son said, "I have to confess, too. I've had some emergencies and set backs in my own business and also got into the briefcase for some cash. But, I did put $400,000 in there."

The oldest son, quite disturbed at this, looked both of his brothers in the eye and said, "I'm so ashamed of the both of you! I can't believe you'd do something so stupid! I'll have you know I wrote the old man a personal check for the whole $1,000,000!"
