Something really cool today at work...

I had to deliver a trailerload of gravel to my job today to fill in a void beneath the foundation of a house where a huge female Husky had dug out a nice cool place to lie down. The void beneath the foundation was at least 4 feet wide, 3 feet deep and 3 feet high. It took about a ton and a half of gravel to fill it up.

The damage was behind the house so I had to use a wheelbarrel to haul the gravel from the front to back.

After a few trips emptying the wheelbarrel and returning to the trailer to shovel on the next load, I started noticing a small brown butterfly hovering and flying around. I was wearing leather gloves and decided to pause and put my hand up for a moment.

The butterfly lighted on my finger and stayed there for several moments. I had to actually move my hand pretty quickly to get it to fly away!

Well, over the next couple of hours that butterfly greeted me just about everytime I returned to the trailer for more gravel. In fact, it got so friendly and would light on my gloved finger so many times, I used my digital camera to get a few images of it on my hand. I have no idea what was on those gloves that attracted it, but it was just way too cool to have a butterfly doing that.

..... try that with a hawk or eagle.... you won't be so happy with those gloves..or without.....(bald eagles are nasty....nice looking..but nasty for that)

When I first looked at those pictures, the positioning of the hand in the picture made me think "cool, first person shooter screenshot... whoa nice graphi... o shi, thats a picture"

lol... i can see it now....

But i thought the picture of the butterfly itself looked rather odd....interesting though...still odd....

what a very neat experience! and to have a camera there to capture it makes it even better!! I love the way nature can completely surprise us at times
