arrow 2 TV Programs that I MUST SEE

Say what you like about my tastes in TV programs, but I really don't pay close attention to a lot of what goes on on the tube. Mostly, I keep up with news, weather and sports.

BUT, there are 2 programs that I make every effort to be home in order to watch. I even have my satellite receiver programmed to tune to these programs when it's time for them to come on. They are:

1. EVERWOOD: Scheduled for Monday at 9 p.m. on the WB.
Stars Treat Williams as Dr. Andy Brown.
This is its second season and it's one program I want to make sure and get DVDs of when they become available. The plot involves the fact that Dr. Brown, a highly acclaimed surgeon, lost his wife (she died) and he suddenly becomes the single parent of a teenage son and a young daughter. He pulls up stakes and leaves NYC for the town of Everwood, CO. It's a sleepy little town tucked away in the Rockie Mountains.
The series has some of the best written dialogues and topics of discussion and development that I've ever seen on a broadcast program. (St. Elsewhere comes to mind.)
I was greatly disappointed that this program didn't receive any Emmy nominations.

2. MONK: Scheduled for Friday, 10 or 10:30 p.m. on USA Network.
Stars Tony Shalhoub as Adrian Monk, obsessive/compulsive private investigator who always gets his man.....or woman. Tony is pure genius to watch. He rightfully received the 2003 Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series just last night.

It might have ended it's run in 1998, but I can never get enough seinfeld. 6:30pm, and 11:00pm everyday.

I feel your pain. Sadly enough this show rules my wife's watching habits as well. I'm sorry, I just don't get the draw of "reality" TV. I guess that I am just too content with my own life to watch somebody else's.

For me, about the only TV that I watch is anything Football or Boxing. I keep hoping that mixed martial arts will make its way too the tube someday. Love that graceful violence. I also enjoy South Park quite a bit.

I concur on the 'reality' programs issue. I can't watch them.

Thanks guys, I knew I was not alone! The only reality of those types of shows is that they suck.

I have watched a couple episodes of The OC. Interesting, but, I still think EVERWOOD is much better.

I used to live on that stuff- since I was about 14yrs old- or whenever they first came out. (I'm 31 now)-

You can learn allot from the discovery channel- Currently I have every single one of them, they're still pretty good.

Wow, I'm not the only one that likes Discovery channel and TLC . If it weren't for these channels, I'd probably quit watching TV. Most of the things that're aired on TV these days are pure crap!

I am in full agreement. I have pretty much quit watching TV because of this. Football is about all that I watch and it's usually just background noise.

TV must suck because of VCR's and TiVo! Yup , that must be it!-- at least that's what the RIAA would say.

I would watch more of The Discovery Channel, The History Channel, and TLC if they had consistent support for Closed Captions. Since I'm nearly totally deaf, I can't watch much of anything (other than sports) that doesn't have CC.

My son is an AVID FAN of these channels, though, and will occasionally bring a program to my attention that he thinks I'd be interested in. 90% of the time, it's not CC.

For 2 years I went out with a girl that was 98% deaf- It is BS how many shows don't have CC. It's totally unacceptable.

It's very annoying that even the stations that do provide CC for the hearing impaired, expect that you are only deaf Monday through Friday and between 6 a.m and Midnight. (At least for the most part.)
