I smoke, and i dont care about girls smoking or not... But before i start smoking, i must say, it tasted pritty strange to kiss a girl who smokes... But not that i really found it dirty or so...

I smoke and it's really hard to quit. I began b/c I liked the texture and smell of the tobacco. It goes especially well with beer and coffee when socializing. I should quit though...

I used to be a light smoker- just a few a day, but I quit 2 years ago cold turkey- My Doctor told me if I didn't my back wouldn't fuse after the surgery I needed, so I really had no choice.
It's a damn hard thing to quit smoking, anyone who does it has my respect.

Now I smoke a couple cigs a year on spacial occasions- when drinking with brothers or something- but thats it.

Of my four kids (all adults now and married) only two of them took up smoking. My younger son still smokes and wishes he had never started. One of my 'steaming and stewing' episodes took place when I discovered it was HE who got my younger daughter started smoking!!! Talk about wanting to wring someone's neck!

Thankfully, about 3 years ago, both she and her husband quit smoking 'cold turkey'.

My late step-father grew up on a tobacco farm in KY. He started smoking when he was only 5 years old. At age 28 he was smoking 2 1/2 - 3 packs of unfiltered Camels a day! He also quit 'cold turkey' at that age.

From every source I've ever read, the 'cold turkey' method is the only one that really works....but, it's the hardest.

I really do sympathize with anyone who got hooked on this and is wanting and trying to quit. I don't judge you, I encourage you to do everything in your power to be successful.

On a really bright note, my step-father had an exam at one time when he was in his late 50s. After the exam, the doctor told him, "You must have never smoked. Your lungs are as clean as a whistle."

So, if that can be an encouragement to you, use it. Quitting now does pay some nice dividends later on.

My girlfriend that I live with smokes too- I quit with her smoking in the house - You want to talk about hard. Man that was a pain to sit and watch her smoke, but not be able too- It makes me think about it all the time too- and smell it. Must.... stop.... thinking... about it.

One thing I didn't mention about my step-dad above. (I thought I was getting a little long-winded.

)

Anyway, when he quit he was working as a nurse's aid at the VA Hospital at Bay Pines, FL. These were years ahead of any 'no smoking' efforts. Many of the patients he tended to were smokers. Some of them were so bad off they couldn't light up their own cigarettes. So, many times, my step-dad would have to take that 'first draw' on a cigarette to get it started and then put it in the patient's mouth.

And he still quit.

I can't tell you how proud I was of him .... and I still really miss him after just over 2 years from his death.

i use to smoke but i quit about 10 yrs ago (im26 smoked for a few years) i also smoked the green right up till about 2 years ago....i quit coz my first baby was born...that may sound sad to some but i think its a damn good reason!!
