Default Post What's your file-sharing tool of choice?

Gnutella, morpheus, kazaa, edonkey, audiogalaxy and so on.

Which one do you prefer and why?

not exactly a filesharing utility, but i use mIRC...heck, i've been on irc for about 10 years now...i vaguely remember hearing about it on one of those dialup bbs's when i used prodigy way back when. oh how far we have come since those 'baud' days.

i got off track there, forgive me. used napster when it was awesome, then i tried iMesh, limewire, and audiogalaxy. they all went to the shitter imo. mIRC has only gotten better...more users, better organization, its always been completely user configurable with scripts designed to automate your irc experience (hell, i can leave it running for weeks on end and get any album, photoshoot, movie, or tv show before it reaches the public and i dont have to be home to do it).

its also how i keep in touch with my family and friends...i've turned most of them on to mIRC and after alittle getting used to it, they love it.

unless i just totally jinxed myself, i doubt irc will ever get shutdown...

with these apps like bearshare, edonkey, etc etc...you have to wait for a user base to develop in order to get the variety of files out there, by that time..some high court will be throwing down an injunction or two and then the app becomes castrated.

not to mention the spyware and trojan shit most of these apps tend to install..thats just not fun.

/end of my $.02

I don't use filesharing programs. Instead, I just leech off of my friends at LAN Parties.

I find audiogalaxy a great program with a bigger database than napster.
Yes it does come with some crappy spyware but nothing ad-aware can't remove

This is what I usually do, I buy some music magazine, get the names of the groups that should fit my musical tastes, download some songs and if I like them then I'll buy the cd.
Yes, it's true I buy less cd's than before but that's just because there's way too much crap music out there

Direct Connect
There are diffrent hubs but i am in the same all time.

Main Reasons:
{
There is nothing you cant find there
All has minimum 10mbps connection so download is fast (scripted cant come in with lower)
Share limit @ 70GB = Much stuff
Little to none queue times
}

I mainly download music and movies even tho there aint a game you cant find, i dont play that much and when a game worth playing comes out i buy it.

Movies are diffrent, when you find yourself with nothing to do one night it is very nice to just download a movie and watch it, too much work to go and rent it and it takes about 10-20 minutes to download a movie and 20-30 to go and rent it.
