Constructive criticism is always appreciated

I'm trying a new look with my web site and have also started to work with php... so it's still a little basic - but I have also got some .swf in there

let me know what you think please.

I like the look of the front page. Not a lot going on in the two sections though - I trust they will eventually take the same format as the home page?

If so, your'e onto a winner!

The overall layout looks really nice. However, as much as I like red, that red is a little 'harsh' and may look better if it could be broken up some. Maybe used as a border.

I like the colour combination but i think you need a contrast border like dyre straits said, maybe a silvered border....The dreamweaver default buttons are too much used around the web i know yon can do stunning original ones

hmm... the reason I am using the dreamweaver default ones is because I am a complete noob with flash! lol I could try a little rollover image or something - but I will use those chrom thingies for now. hmmm... I'm not quite sure what you mean about braking up the red... could you possibly elabourate please? Not necessarily a light color for the center. To me, there's just too much of it right now. I very much like red color, but, this is kind of a harsh color with so much. Like wertret said, maybe use a silver, or other nice contrasting color, for a border in order to reduce the amount of the red on the page.

Is it nice and easy to read? Especially is it easier on the eyes than that black/grey/white combo I had going?

I'm liking that much better. I'd only suggest that the letters on red be a little lighter and slightly larger.

EDIT: Oh, and the overlapping columns on the right, they should be moved further to the edge of the page to the right. That column could very well be used for 'breaking news' like stuff or quick updated news.

I'd move your text column to the left and you re column to the right as humans we read from left to right and seeing the intial text on the left throws me off and im sure it would throw other off to, just my 2 cents, and what you could do is make you left navigation, and the center blocks with text and pics and then on the right information.

I like it very much. I think it might be nice to add some 3D effects to the columns so that they appear to stand out from the page. (Wish I'd thought about that when doing the initial editing.

EDIT: What I'm trying to get at with that righthand column is that the 3 overlays should be closer together in their overlapping. More like the top bar of the page is now. Then use some shadowing to give it a 3D appearance rather than a flat on the page look like it is now.

The only thing I notice that's not quite right is that the hyperlink color is hard to read against the red background. You'll need to come up with a nice color that can work with all the backgrounds.

yeah... I'm contemplating creating a little java script that randomises the background each time you visit the site... It will be subtle - but noticable - only a passing fancy - may see how easy it is to implement tonight. And yes - I do need to sort the hyperlink colour.
