You parental units and gaming.
I know there are a few of you parental units here. I was wondering, if you were gamers. And if you were, are you introducing your children into gaming. Also, what age they're introduced in. It'll be pretty amusing to see a 8 year old be an awesome WC3 player.

I am a parent but my daughter is only 3. I have just started to show the computer to her and figure by her 4th birthday (August) I will start to let her play games on the computer that are for her age group. I figure by the time she is 10 or so she will be ready for the more fun stuff.....BUT she will not live her life in games......I know kids that get up early on a Sat. morning and play till they go to bed...not my kid. She can play for several hours but there is other stuff to do in life. When she is an adult (18+) then she can do what she wants. I personally did not start playing seriously with games (PC & Counsel) till I was 21.... not because of my parents but becasue of choice. My daughter will be busy enough running my network and websites, she won't have time to game....heheheh

SNL?
I didn't get that from SNL, but I did get it from somewhere. I don't anyone who wakes up early on a Sat to game til late at night. I personally can't game past 1 AM at most and max out straight gaming at around the 3.5 hour mark.

my dad stopping caring what I did before I was born, lol. He gave me a rifle at 6 years old. (A .22, but still it was a real gun) I was playing on the classic NES and SMS systems back when I was like 3 years old. I couldnt read then, but once I was about 5-6 I could and I started playing the RPGs. I was (And possibly still am, but they don't grade your reading ability when your this old
) the best reader in the class because of it.

Learning to read is something..
Learning to read from a game is a great thing
I learned how to type by playing Mechwarrior 2: Mercenaries. I had to memorize SO many keys so eventually I knew the keyboard.

My 8 year old daughter has just started to use the comp. I bought her a couple of Disney games and she loves them but her main interest is the BBC's childrens website that you can find here , there's lots of interesting stuff there for kids.
She also likes to send e-mails to her friends especially Todds daughter Madison.

I have a 7 year old (soon to be 8) and a 3 year old girl. The 3 yaer old just for now watches the 8 Yr old on the PC. The 8 year old loves to play Barbie and SpongeBob games on the PC. But hey Barbie Ice Skating looks great on a 9700 with everything maxed, LOL!!!
Mostly though she likes to send Kinetics daughter Lucy e mail and read those from her! When she gets one it is the highlight of her day! Thank you Kinetic! I will have Maddy check out your site you mentioned. Also hey Kinetic dont you just love Polly pocket and BRATZ online?!?!?!?!?

My daughter has been playing on the computer since she was 2. Santa brought her a game she could play that no matter what key she hit it all did the same thing. Shes 5 Saturday and she Starts and shuts down the computer goes to a few web sites like disney and Diva starz through icons on the desktop. But Its unreal how much the keyboard has forced her to learn her abcs. She is an avid player of Alice, midtownmadness 2 and the sims. She ask questions all the time about cards and parts laying around. (on another note modded cases with fan grills are not for little girls with long hair because the fans suck their hair right in!)
