Usually this is a wonderful time for me and the family. However this year there are some great burdens on us with my fathers sickness.
That being said I will still make the most of every moment I have left with him and give my kids the same wonderful christmas they have every year. They need not know of the sad things happening. The holidays to me are aways about spening time with my immediate family and catching up with some distant relatives to let them know they still are loved and thought about. I know I probably sound like a downer but I am human. Regardless of what happens I still will happily trim the tree, Wrap the kids gifts with a smile and tell all my friends and family I love them and Merry christmas!

Thank you Dyre, but unfortunately my father has about the same thing. He has Cancer in his lungs and brain. He has gone downhill very fast and just this week they gave him 2 weeks. So it is tough but we will make it through like always. Thanks for your prayers bud!
Regardless this is to me what the season is about and that is loving our friends and family. If anything this ordeal has certainly made that even stronger in my mind. To all of you cherish and treasure your friends and family and have a Merry Christmas and make the most of this special time of year.

Christmas can be very painful for those who have lost loved ones! My own mother died shortly after Christmas almost 10 years ago and it is still a painful memory.
For all those going through hard times my thoughts are with you and your families!

My thoughts and prayers go out to those who's loved ones are going through a rough time.
Todd, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I have been lucky to have only lost one member of my family. It was my step-dad's dad. He was a great man and I still miss him greatly. |

Unfortunatly for me Christmas this year will be a quiet & lonley one. Working for a retail company means I have to work the day after Christmas (Friday) and unfortunatly I did not get my vacation time in soon enough so I have to work that day. My wife is going to see her family in MN for Christmas and is taking my daughter with her so I get to spend Christmas all by myself...
I tried to get her to go after Christmas but she insits she needs to see her family on Christmas. Guess what bothers me is I am not included in that word "family".... oh well.... I will have to do something nice for myself...

I'll be working the morning of Christmas Eve (If there are any staff left at work breaking PCs, that is) Then later I'll be off to the local pub to meet up with friends I haven't seen in months.
Christmas Day is hectic for me. First up we go to my girlfriends parents house to hand out pressies to her nieces and nephews and the rest of the family - that part is anarchaic with four excited young ones running about. After that we will be off to visit my Grandparents and then we visit my parents. Once everyone meets up at my folks place, all the guys dissappear off to the pub for an hour while the girls enjoy wine and gossip at the house. We will all go back to my folks place for Christmas dinner and relax and have a good time. After that comes the afternoon nap and then everyone gets up again and heads off to my Aunties place for more present giving (to even more excited kids) and some more drinks. And after that exhausting schedule, I'll probably get the call to go for even more drinks and relaxation with the friends I haven't seen in months at the only pub in the city open on Christmas night. Boxing day will see me nursing a hangover. |

I too am sorry to hear that and I know EXACTLY where you are coming from. My father passed away almost 6 years ago. The first Christmas was pretty tough.... I also had to get my mom through it. I don't know what was tougher, trying to get through Christmas with out him or trying to help mom get through it. Life throws some rough curve balls every so often and usually at the wrong time....
Keep your chin up and you will make it through it... To look at the positive side, getting through this will make you that much more of a stronger person.... Like I said, keep your chin up...
