You're missing the point. Do you ever hear of anyone getting arrested or sued for sharing files on IRC? Nope. Not a single case. P2P-hundreds. You know why? Because P2P sharing gets you caught, therefore, it's the dumb thing to do. IRC sharing is smarter because, for a lot of these people who know what they're doing, it's untracable.
