I thought that I would volunteer my services to anyone looking to buy a new computer/upgrade (in the uk)

I have always been very good at finding the lowest prices around the place.

So... for example, post your budget and what you would like it to do and I will find things to match your requirements as near as possible to the given price...

I'm sure some others would be willing to help out in this department too

Good idea Tastyweat! I'm after a new monitor, probably a 19" Iiyama Visionmaster Pro 454. You'll have to be quick though 'cos I'm picking it up from Scan this morning!
