Right now im listening to eva cassidy a folder of all her albums, one of the 1000+ cds ive ripped to my hard drive. the voice of an angel gone before her time.

That song is there best, i can play it over and over and it still kicks arsh. To bad they don't play stuff like that anymore, they need to get back on drugs and start playing real music again. Just my two cents.

I KNOW!! That was classic stuff and always will be. Ride the lightning/ Master of Puppets/ And Justice for All has some of the best guitar solos I've ever heard. It was so powerful and unique, but I don't think it was the drugs really (even though it probably had something to do with it), I think it was their hunger for fame and raw talent.
I think they got famous, rich old, fat, and lazy, then the drive was gone. I cannot listen to the new stuff AT ALL- I don't even know the name of one song after the Black album, and I wouldn't recognize a song if I had a gun to my head..

Their performances are still amazingly tight on stage with the old tunes- but the real hard part, the real magic, coming up with those original songs that kicked so much ass will never ever come back. I think that's just the way it is though, some writers/ musicians only have those few years where they're so "on it" that they can come up with those kinds of original masterpieces. Its here, then it's gone. I think that's part of what made those albums so amazing. When people say they hate Metallica, I'm like yeah, me too, NOW- But what about the old stuff. If they say they hate that too- they just don't understand what they're missing out on, even if that "type" of music isn't your thing- it's still incredible..
