a great program for that is alcohol 120%

the main reason i back up my music CDs is for the car.....so my original CDs dont melt or get stolen from the car (as CDs cost alot of money here in Australia imo)

Thanks for the reply. I was curious more than anything else. I was burning Redhat CDs from some ISO images and I thought "Could you do this with a music CD?".

System Specs

An ISO can only carry a single track data session.

To IMAGE an Audio CD, preserving tracks and other info (eg. CD-Text) requires a format capable of holding information not contained in the main data channel.

Easiest to understand are the WAV/TOC format of CDRDAO, or the WAV/CUE of Exact Audio Copy.

Since I use EAC, I'll describe that...

The main data file, is a WAV covering the whole length of the CD - it can be played as is, but has no tracks.
The CUE carries the track marking and CD-Text - I've recovered some pretty poor CD's using this, and avoided having to manually reassemble the tracks.

The "private" formats of Nero (NRG), Easy CD Creator (CIF), WinonCD and other mainstream programs tend to be SINGLE file.
